Sean Payton > Bill Parcells

Your entire thought process is based upon what a coach has done years ago. So what makes your argument any better genius.

What has Parcells done in Dallas? I appreciate him helping restore some dignity to the team but mediocrity and almost getting there every year isn't going to cut it. Be calmed by the understanding that nothing you can say will convince me otherwise genius.

See the beautiful thing about fair weather fans is that at any point in the season you will sit there and try to prove absurb things. Like for instance if it were the middle of the season and the Cowboys record was 4-2 while the Saints were at 5-1, Payton would obviously be a better coach because he got his team to 5 wins before Parcells could.

There's no reason reasoning behind these thoughts, and definitely nothing of substance has been provided to show why Payton is so much better of a coach in this thread. It's just a poor opinion right now. Parcells put us in a position to have the same amount of playoff victories that Payton has with his team right now, but Romo screwed it up.

That's all you need to worry about. And thank you for calling me a genius. I hear it a lot, but it means more coming from such a thoughtful and elaborate poster.

Parcells playoff wins in Dallas: 0

Payton's playoff wins in NO: 1

Score 1-0

I also appreciate you calling me a genius. I'm flattered. Thanks. ;)

"Parcells put us in a position to have the same amount of playoff victories that Payton has with his team right now, but Romo screwed it up."

How hard is that to understand?

That's all Romo's fault.. riiiiight...

How many other teams in the NFL have their starting QBs holding kicks? Granted, Romo didn't start the season at starter (I also blame this on Tuna and have been pissed about it since week one) but do we not have anyone else that can hold kicks? There's a fine line between having the gumption to make some of these very tough decisions and the Tuna is slowly losing that gumption with each growing year. If Parcells had any inkling of though that "at some point in time Romo would be starting" he should have had someone else holding kicks in TC.

This would be perfect and you'd have a lot of respect if you had said it anytime before the Seattle game. Did you say it in the past? If so, please provide the post from before the Seattle game saying that Romo shouldn't be holding it.

If not, this is just another fair weather argument.

Let me clue you in to something.

I have supported Romo since TC when he blazed a trail and showed he was ready. I also went round and round with the Bledsoe lovers during the first few games of the season about this. Finally my prayers were answered.

Hindsight is always 20/20. However, Bill himself said "at some time I plan on working Romo in this season" at the beginning of the season. A HOF coach should easily know you never put your starting QB in the position Romo was in at the end of that Seattle game. Did Bill know Romo would be in that position at the beginning of the season? Of course not. However, as a HOF coach, you play a game of chess and you always stay ahead of the game. At the very least he should have worked someone else in to hold after Romo begin to start early in the season. If you know your team is going to have a playoff chance you don't want your starter to have to go through what Romo went through. It was early enough (week 4) that they could have easily made that change. As a matter of fact, we probably wouldn't have thought much of it at the time. Romo will probably wear his moment in history on his chest and go on to be an incredible leader for the Dallas Cowboys. That's what I am hopeful for. I will continue to disagree with your assertion that it was "all Romo's fault" we lost that game.

especially those 3 straight PASSES (0-3) with 6 min left when they're thrashing the DL and next series the PITCHBACK/fumble. LOL. ROTFLMAO

lucky breaks count for something though.

that is the type of playcalling that got him canned in NY.

And it's also the type of playcalling that got the Saints to the NFC championship while Parcells sits and thinks about what could of been....

I'm shocked Payton is as good as he is. I'll admit to thinking he was gonna bust as a head coach.
People should realize they already had two good lines in New Orleans. McAlister was injured most of the year and they had a crap QB. They struck gold with Colston, a fifth rounder, signed a ProBowl QB in Brees, and sprinkle in a little Reggie Bush and their skill positions are top notch.

As I said before, if you were this passionate about the mistake Parcells was making by keeping Romo as a holder, I'm sure you would've brought it up earlier than the Seattle game with a fury. Speaking after the fact is cute, but doesn't mean too much.

Just don't try to act like you "knew all along" after something significant occurs. It's nonsense.

Might be a little late but Brees is a DAMNED good QB. Far better then Dallas has and has had for a LONG time.

typical, shortsighted observation.

if the aints had fumbles like we had by WITTEN, TERRY, ROMO and big drops from butterfingers TO, Sean would be sporting puffy, red eyes and a loss tonight.

I'm this passionate about Parcells making good quality decisions. Period. I shouldn't have to point this out after the fact... :bang2: I'm simply a fan. Parcells is a HOF coach. I expect him to make certain decisions so I don't have to sit here and stew over the lack thereof after the fact. We could go back and forth all night and day if you'd like. Are we proving some point?

I agree. Everyone forgets that N.O. has had a great dfense for years now. Not good...great. They have always had a good run game, they just had a crappy Aaron Brooks for a QB. Like you said sprinkle in a little pro bowl qb an innovative coach and a dash of Bush and you have a team that very likely is past the line. Good luck saints. Hope you lose to the Indianapolis Mannings. :D :D :D

SP is a fine coach. The Saints were also lucky -- and no doubt a team needs that to win as well.

Houston F'ed up and didn't take Bush, so he fell into their lap. They got Colston in the 7th friggin' round. Miami turned Brees down and he went to NO. Plus they are riding that Katrina wave of emotion.

Hey, more power to them.

I dont think it was a botched punt at all. That looked like a designed play to me.

I'm happy for Payton. I will still wait until next season to see if this is a team on a major high or if they really found success. They are ridding a ton of emotion this season.

On the offensive and defensive line Dallas is definately lacking talent. .

..........ya, and who is in charge of obtaining the talent at these positions the last 4 years?
