You don’t trust Payton to coach up Dak and fix the offense?
Payton left NO because Drew Brees retired and he got a taste of what coaching is like in the NFL without a top tier QB.

I don’t think he is interested in seeing what he can turn Dak into.

Interesting fact.

Dak Prescott’s stats were better than Brees’ were before Drew hooked up with Sean Payton.

I’ve seen this one making the rounds:

If that’s true, I can’t help but to think it’s all about the Cowboys job for him.

If it’s not opening this year, he’ll go back to television until next year.

Payton’s media boys on Fox and ESPN say he will some how control the Joneses. :omg:  Jimmy came on Cowturd a few years ago and said the reason why Jerrah didn’t interfere with him the first few years is he working to pay off the Cowboys debt. Once that was accomplished he started meddling. If Jimmy could not back off Jerrah, I don’t even think Belichick could. So I know Payton could not either.

Payton has checked out. You can see it watching him on TV. I'll be surprised if he actually takes another coaching job. He's made his money, won a Super Bowl. If he comes back, it will be a low-pressure job, not the Cowboys.
He now owns a home minutes away from where the Chargers are building a new practice facility. That team has Herbert, and they've never won a Super Bowl. They're not even the second most popular team in LA. That's very low pressure. If he does anything with that team he'll be legendary.

If I owned them Staley would be gone tomorrow and Payton would get a fat check.

I dont see him going anywhere that doesn't have an established franchise QB he thinks he can work with. Plus that first round pick probably throws most teams off

He was and never will come to Dallas. He would have to wrestle control from Jerrys cold dead fingers first
He was coming to Dallas in 2019 before the AD trade…..trade compensation was already agreed on. So not sure why you think he will never come

Sorry, but I think that “control “ talk is a myth.

Mike McCarthy has gotten whatever he’s wanted or needed.

And so would Sean Payton.

It’s not like he was some control freak type in New Orleans.

He coached, and Mickey Loomis and the front office handled personnel.

This control talk is a fallacy.

Interesting stuff and info I would only get here. I can totally see it.

Cowboys or bust.

Teams might be pushing back on draft pick compensation to the Saints.
I think this is the biggest issue. The Saints see interviews as "demand" and whatever they told Payton they would accept, they are likely rethinking that now.

Since the Chargers kept their head coach, I do not really see a good fit for Payton outside of the Broncos, and if I were Payton I would be very cautious about going there with all of the draft picks they gave away as well as the ones they would have to give away for him to take the job.

I think he may want the Dallas job, but he also realizes that Jerry's not likely to fire a head coach that has two 12-5 back-to-back seasons and who won the first road playoff game for Dallas in 30 years, at least not this year.

It may not be what he wants, but Payton may end up back in TV for another year and then revisit new team options after next season, which may include Dallas at that time.

Oh yeah? So MM came to Dallas, took one look at KM, and decided on the spot that KM was who he wanted as his OC?

Not a chance in hell....

KM was forced on MM, and anyone who believes otherwise is going through life with blinders on. There's a reason why MM won't help KM with the offense, and hopefully some day we will get to hear the truth.

Really surprised they haven't fired Staley yet

I wonder....
if both Moore and Quinn both leave for head coaching jobs, will Jerry cut McCarthy loose since they have to build a new staff anyway? That might open the door for Payton.

I would like Sean because he’s rumored to be bringing Fangio with him

Jerry jusr wants the spotlight. Jimmy downplayed all that stuff. He is one of the top 5 owners to coach for.
