That’s not true. You can try to downplay it because it ruins your agenda, but it doesn’t make it untrue.
You asked for the comparison, you got it plus links, now I'm downplaying it? Also, am I downplaying both McCarthy and Payton underachieved with HOF QBs and now suddenly they will come here and do more with less?

They also thought this about Brett Favre before McCarthy got to him and revived his career, Rodgers would have been a huge bust if not for McCarthy rebuilding him into the QB he is today. This is what McCarthy was working with when it came to Rodgers as a rookie. He stunk. His mechanics were some of the worst I have ever seen.

If Dak can't get it together with McCarthy, it means his potential was met.

What? Are you confusing McCarthy and Mike Holgren?

You’re the guy thinking McCarthy and Mike Holmgren are the same guy!

It’s hysterical!

Uh, no...

I'm thinking of Favre when he was looking like garbage until McCarthy came in and revived him and he had that big 2007 season while he was grooming Rodgers into the HOF QB he is today.

Rich Gannon, Favre, and Rodgers all credit McCarthy for their development.

No, big brain, I'm not. Favre was doneso before 2006. McCarthy came in and gave him a second wind and Favre had his best season in a LONG LONG time in 2007 and got to the championship.

NFL history...learn it?

Oh brother. Now you’re trying to claim that he ‘fixed’ a Hall of Famer at 37 years old in year 16 of his career?

That’s even worse!
:lmao:

How about the fact that McCarthy chose Alex Smith over Rodgers in the first place?

Uh, it's a well known fact that McCarthy came into Green Bay and helped reign in Favre in 2007. And who cares? Alex Smith and Aaron Rodgers were both first round prospects, Alex Smith was a much more ready QB in the NFL than Rodgers was.

I already showed you how Rodgers looked his rookie season. He was a community college guy that had it mentally and physically, but his mechanics were not suited for the NFL. Anything else?

Yeah apparently Payton can do more with Prescott than he did with Brees.

This freakin' board sometimes lol Wonder what Parcells is doing these days? Let's give him a call.

How about no Payton or McCarthy? Hire some young coach who's a good OC with potential. May get the next McVay, or maybe a bust but it's something different. I know we had Garrett, but I mean a young coach with some energy that isn't a robot.

Remember McCarthy's speech on Hard Knocks? It was the laughing stock of the League.

MM will remain the coach of the Cowboys due to lack of options. How many high quality,self-respecting coaches would tolerate Jerry’s meddling and micro-management? It’s insanity to take a job when you’re judged on your performance, yet have no control in picking your own staff and being constantly undermined by an egotistical owner desperate to keep his team relevant in the NFL.

There’s definitely some wildly different stories making the rounds. And that’s why I qualified my initial comments to include if this is true.

Almost every team with an opening has wanted to interview him, so that shows he’s in demand. If he does go back to television, it’s because he didn’t want those jobs.

And that says to me that he wants this one.
That's because you're trying to speak it into existence.

The available jobs - especially Denver and Arizona - are not great options. You're stuck with a big QB contract for a guy who is either declining or has limitations. The latter is actually pretty similar to the Dallas job.

Payton is currently living in LA and working for Fox. The ideal job is the Chargers with Herbert on a rookie contract. The Chargers are fools for not making it happen.

I'm not a huge fan of McCarthy. I can respect what he's done the past 2 yrs, but too many gaffes by a "walk around" coach for my taste. That said, this isn't a team who can afford a unknown at the HC position. IF McCarthy were gone tomorrow you need to pay the price for a Payton, or pray for a mystery release of the likes of a Tomlin, Harbaugh or McVay. This team has a VERY small window with the present core players(2-3 yrs tops) before your reloading at best or a full rebuild at worst. Can't trust a first time HC to maximize that. For as good as McVay is, he needed a few seasons to get that way and IMO you'll lose what little window of time you have. The time to have done that was when they hired McCarthy. To me it's like almost feeling "forced" in a way to let McCarthy finish his contract UNLESS we start the rebuild this coming season or next

He isnt worth it imo. Dak is a major problem, KM play calling is 2nd.
We’ve had back-to-back 12 win seasons with him and won a playoff game this year. You call that a major problem? Lol Can you recommend a QB who’s better that we can get? There’s a list of teams that have a major problem at QB and the Cowboys aren’t one of them. If it was up to fans like you, the Cowboys would have a major problem at QB.

The problem isn't the play calling the problem is in how reads are made. Dak has talked about it. The windows he is deciding to throw into.

He's not coming here. He will want too much control that Jerry boy won't be willing to give.

God forbid we actually win something and Jerry doesn't get all the credit. Can't have that
