How exactly is Payton better than McCarthy? Their resumes are about as close as can be with McCarthy being considered a QB guru. Yet Payton would come in and do more? Both have 1 Super Bowl win with HOF QBs and their fan bases feel like they underachieved since then.

This is such a stupid thing to latch onto. Payton is not a savior and he is for sure not worth giving up a first rounder for.

Payton 9-8 playoff record with one Superbowl

McCarthy 11-10 playoff record with one Superbowl

I fail to see how Payton is an improvement..
Look at the rankings of each coach’s offenses. See if you see a difference there.

Oh yeah? So MM came to Dallas, took one look at KM, and decided on the spot that KM was who he wanted as his OC?

Not a chance in hell....

KM was forced on MM, and anyone who believes otherwise is going through life with blinders on. There's a reason why MM won't help KM with the offense, and hopefully some day we will get to hear the truth.
Great conspiracy theory.

Perhaps, but people thought the same thing about Drew Brees when San Diego gave up on him.
They also thought this about Brett Favre before McCarthy got to him and revived his career, Rodgers would have been a huge bust if not for McCarthy rebuilding him into the QB he is today. This is what McCarthy was working with when it came to Rodgers as a rookie. He stunk. His mechanics were some of the worst I have ever seen.

If Dak can't get it together with McCarthy, it means his potential was met.

MM gave up play calling duties in 2016 in Green Bay, and in the same season took it back and said he would never give them up again. But then when he came to Dallas he said "well new job, I take back those never again statements" and supposedly because of how great our offense was in 2019 MM wanted to keep the offense in place. if Moore stays and MM stays they'll probably just keep pointing to how productive the offense has been, but overlook the costly mistakes by Dak.

Dont know. According to his new best buddy Cowherd, the new Denver ownership is willing to move mountains to get him. We'll see.

McCarthy will coach here longer than Landry.

But less.
There is very little difference between the two - the yards are about the only difference for a few seasons and that was when they had Brees throwing 700 times a season. There is not some drastic difference between McCarthy and Payton - both Packers and Saints still scratch their heads and wonder why they didn't get more trophies.

There’s definitely some wildly different stories making the rounds. And that’s why I qualified my initial comments to include if this is true.

Almost every team with an opening has wanted to interview him, so that shows he’s in demand. If he does go back to television, it’s because he didn’t want those jobs.

And that says to me that he wants this one.

That’s not true. You can try to downplay it because it ruins your agenda, but it doesn’t make it untrue.

I can’t believe I’m saying this but I think McCarthy has done a really good job all things considered.
