And then Parcells took playcalling from Payton if i'm not mistaken.

No Payton called plays in 05.

Parcells hired Chris Palmer in 06 to take over for David Lee and he let Haley/soprano/Palmer split all the duties then he called plays

He was so highly regarded that the Chargers were going to draft Eli until he didn't want to go there with the 1st overall pick.

And then he responded by playing at a pro bowl level, two years in a row.

Again, potential. Not even close to a HOF career at that point and he threw 15 INTs that year after 7.

The point is, acting if Sean Payton is just some run of the mill coach is utterly idiotic...

I don’t by any means think Payton is a run of the mill coach. He is a very good coach. I would take him
Over redball in a a New York minute.

I just personally think Brees was going to be good no matter who his coach was. But Payton deserves a Lot of credit for what he has done in New Orleans too. New Orleans was a joke of a franchise before those two got there.

I know this has been said before, but please for the love of God can we bring him here? Man just knows football in and out and in this century. He’s got ties to the team and the State of Texas. Please please please if next year is Garrett’s last make 2019 Payton’s first. With Romo as the OC

Now I worry about this Eberflus character we never hear anything about. Apparently he's on the short list of a lot of Patriots coaches, who know football. What if he goes on to be a stud while we are holding out hope as usual? Scary!

very possible. this organization seems to run good coaches out of town.

or good coaches run themselves the hell out of town...

Went to the pro bowl in 2004...lol

Already talked about it and then threw 17 INTs or so the next year. He had a 5-6 year career before Payton and was not an ‘elite’ QB, but talent being wasted.

Nobody doubts his potential, the reality is Payton maximized his potential.

you ask what did he do without Payton. I told you. Had he stayed there with LT, he would've won a Super Bowl in San Diego Inmo

Actually it does matter.. the argument is that he carried Sean Payton when he couldn’t carry a talented San Diego team..

One good year out of six doesn’t make an elite QB and your resorting to staying ‘what ifs’ With LT is even more comical..

He did win with Sean Payton..

And Payton won with him, hence the question, Would Bree's be coming to Dallas with him. That's the question.

coaching makes more of a difference now because the difference in team talent is less. You look in the early 90's there were several teams that towered over the rest of the league(Bills owned the AFC for 4 straight years-Cowboys and 49rs pretty much shared the NFC between them during that period) they all had a clear edge in talent and coaching.
Brees in San Diego did not quite fit; going to Payton in NO it was a GREAT fit. A lot like BB and Brady (at least up until this year)

Nobody has any clue what ‘the question’ is as far as you are concerned. Even the ‘talented’ roster you used as an excuse for Brees, the QB couldn’t win with it..

How did Brees do with Sean Payton with Bountygate.. oh yeah, that’s right... dropped in efficient and came back up when he returned.

Just stop..

I agree.. the point is people are trying to downplay Payton as being a product of Brees.. it’s dumb. He’s totally altered his offense this year too.

Reading comprehension would serve you well. To say Brees was only good because of Payton and would never reach his potential because he was still learning is dumb, in 2004 and 2005 Brees was already playing well, by the time He ended up in NO he was a 5 year vet who had already been a pro bowl qb. You're a fool to think it was Payton.

You should take your own advice about reading comprehension. Nobody says Brees wasn’t good...

You just keep changing goal posts..

like you bringing up LT and him probably eventually winning a SB with that team, which he couldn’t do for 5 years..
