SeattleTimes: Christine Michael’s inconsistency proved to be his downfall with Seahawks

Heck I hope he's Martellus like on the field.

Martellus is one of the best TE's in football.

People love to take shots at Marty B but he is a heck of a football player and made the right choice leaving the Cowboys.

We clearly held Martellus back.

I hope that is the case with Michael as well and he is one of the best in the league at his position and was just being held back by the Seahawks coaches and Lynch.

Lynch may have been the lead back but he couldn't unseat turbin either. I hope he works out but this kid seems to be very immature and only makes 100% sure running downs better we are still relegated to DMC as the only good pass blocker.

He's 24 and immature. We've got some pro's that will help him out. Look where Dez was at age 24. If (and its a big if) he can really learn the playbook he could be something special. He can no doubt be a monster in pass protection because not many folks are going to run through him. He's one powerful dude.

Wait a second. What is this non sense about it being a big if that he may not even be able to learn the playbook? Have you ever heard of a player at the NFL level not be able to learn a playbook? It's one thing to hope it doesn't take him too long to learn the playbook but to say it's a big IF that he can ever learn it is just goofy.

Some fans around here have labeled this guy as a semi functional special needs case. Maybe Jerry will have the short bus dispatched to pick him up and return hi to his group home each evening.

Fans are fans most were pissed he was gone but once you get past the homersitic posts he is a flawed back with talent. Is he more talented than what the team has now, maybe but right now all he brings is talent, and big body. Overall ability shown to this point he is closer to randle than murray.

Also, I could be wrong, but I don't see Michael being a good fit in a zone scheme.

Murray, Randle, and McFadden can run behind basically any scheme.

Michael looks like more of a North and South guy.

Sour grapes in Seattle.

I was kind of thinking the same thing. I'm fairly certain, you can find a similar article for any player leaving a franchise before their full potential has been met. Marty, here for example.
The Seahawks forum seems to be about 50/50 as to whether he will thrive now that he will be getting more playing time.

True.. Turbin is underrated.. Kinda wish he was the guy we would've picked up.

Turbin has no holes in his game really.

Bennett couldn't stick here, couldn't stick in New York, and was wearing on the patience of the coaching staff in Chicago before the staff was fired.

He's a good athlete, and he's a relatively good guy. But he's also got an uncoachable side and a strange personality.

Didn't he say something to the effect, they wished he was more focused, when he was in NY.

So Seattle fans that made posts that didn't support your position are just homeristic. Yet you say he can't learn the playbook based on other Seattle fans on the same forum....I gotcha..

What would you expect him to bring at this point? Were you expecting a multi time probowl back in his rookie contract for a 7th round draft pick?

If they wanted Murray he was begging them to keep him.(I believe they should have btw)

I agree with all of that.. I don't know if he is uncoachable or not but I like that guy and feel like he is top 5-7 at the position in the entire league.

For all the running we do I wish we had Marty B still.

Too bad he couldn't catch a simple pass half the time here.

It was weird because I was at his 1st couple of training camps and he was terrific catching balls in practice.

So fans cannot offer insight on player, there are ones that do not post emotionally charged posts just like here. I do hope he does well but when articles, fan posts bring into question this kids abilities you have to ask the question. He has played in 16 games in the last 2 years, he was buried behind Lynch and Turbin. Randle had an excuse he was buried behind the best back the team has had in years in Murray. Michael couldn't even beat out Turbin for the 3rd down back role, why is that. On top of that his team signed a 34 year old back that pushed him off the roster where he most likely would be cut, oh the fact UDFA rookie was getting props from the coaching staff. Put all that together and it would seem the kid has a knack of rubbing the coaches the wrong way.

They are afraid they traded away Ahman Green 2.0.

Interesting reference from the past. The Packers stole Ahman Green from Seattle. He was also considered something of a malcontent and had a fumbling problem early in his Seattle career.

The shipped him out of town to make room for Shawn Alexander. Maybe there is a parallels here also with Beast mode and Michaels.

They traded him to GB and he became one of the top 5 RBs (at the time) in the NFL and ultimately the Packers all-time leading rusher.

Some players just are suited to be backups. Marty, clearly, was one of them.

In fairness he also has 3 preseason fumbles the last two years in 62 touches. That is, in fact, a fumble machine, depending how you count preseason fumbles.

In total he has 158 touches (including all preseasons) and 4 fumbles with Zero lost.

Three of the four fumbles were in the preseasons of years 2 and 3. My guess is that they had him trying to alter his method of carrying the ball in the preseason because it was reported that their coach wanted him to start switching hands more.

It is odd that none of the fumbles were lost.

could be Bennett 2.0....

It does sound like similar complaints. I would be happy with Chicago Marty type production.

You should have seen the smear campaign against Marshawn before leaving Buffalo.
Either way, this is a very low risk, very HIGH reward type of deal. There is no way the Cowboys could turn down this opportunity for a talent like this.

IIRC, Green solved his fumble problems by wearing some type of sleeve on his forearms.

Romo didn't trust him. He routed him into several interceptions, and Romo just quit looking his way.

I'm quoting what Seattle's fan forums said about him and the playbook. You know if you read it on the internet it must be true.

I assume you mean not suited. Yes, he was not going to give 100%, especially in terms of learning the playbook unless he was the starter. He honestly thought he was better than Witten and that he should have replaced Witten as the starter when he was a rookie.

Any idea why he has just 1 career catch? Anyone know if he can catch? Lol...
