I'm talking bout the work ethic in the offseason. He always went back heavy took him awhile to get back in to shape. Emmitt was always a leader by example. On and off the field. Inseason and offseason. That's whyhe lasted so long. Never had any serious injury, and when he did, he just carried the team in a playoff win.

Emmitt was just a perfect player imo. There was no weakness in his game.
Thanks for clarifying that

Just saw the sounds from the sidelines yt video. Seeing him in another uniform sux, I didn't like it almost as much as I didn't like seeing Emmitt and Allen in different uniforms. Elliot like Emmitt left it all on the field for this team. Too bad Elliot didn't have Emmitt work ethic in the offseason. If only he had put in the extra work, he'd probably still be a cowboy.
Seeing Elliot on another team hit like the first time I saw Witten in a Raiders uni, Ware with the Broncos, DeMarco in Philly, and Dez with the Ravens. I am glad Romo hung em up after 2016 because I couldn’t have stomached seeing him playing for another squad.

Zeje was no longer what he was, but it was another Cowboys star has been lit and burnt out without a championship. Whatever you think about the players now, 2016 between him and Dak was magic.

I think there is a combination of things that cut Zeke's career short -Work ethic would be one but the main one was that Zeke would seek out contact rather than trying to avoid it. Someone said he did it to himself by holding out. Well if he did that to himself, they he did really well for himself because he got his money while the getting was good - the market collapsed after Zeke and Gurley got there deals. He would have to play 3 more years at a high level to get what he got in todays market.

I always felt sorry for what Goodell did to Zeke. He cost him millions in endorsement deals.
That's alright, he made up for it in Cabo. He's still a multi millionaire.

At his age, performance level, he should be at league minimum or just retire a cowboy. His best years were his rookie years as a cowboy basically.

Speak for yourself. Its a dream come true for some of us. A dream some 4 or 5 years in the making.

Watching him stumble into the center of the line for 2 or 3 yardrs and holding back someone elses offense is icing on the cake.

And yes too bad Zeke didnt have Emmitts heart and work ethic. Or his skills as a RB.

Zeke and Emmitt were both durable and they had great Olines early in their career. The similarities end there.
I believe Zeke had the talent to be a generational RB. He just lacked the heart and dedication to take care of his body to live up to what he could have been long-term.

That there in big red? PURE SPECULATION! His track record would easily show he'd more likely get injured instead.

We should TRY to stick to the facts here.
That speculation is based on what he did through 16 games - averages matter. I also pointed out how Adrian Peterson had a more productive rookie season despite less carries and less yards.

Some of you focus too much on yard totals while ignoring carry amounts. RBs are often going to have more yards if they are handed the ball far more often same as QBs are typically going to have more passing yards the more they throw. Duh.

He was never generational. His talent was over inflated by the 2016 rookie season where he ran behind the best line in football.

Doesn’t bother me at all. He is used up at this point in his career and could have stayed had he taken a pay cut that matches his current production
Not really.

We are still paying for him.

He’s very talented and in great shape.

Zeke haters gonna hate.

And the "average" is that he sits a LOT. Only two full seasons (16 games)..and two seasons with 2 games. While riding pine NOW as we speak.

So please...stop your nonsense it's insulting.

You lose that status when you hold out with 2 years on a contract, so greedy a move no other player had ever done that to the Cowboys.
Maybe not but given the lack of money going to rb's today in the grand scheme of things Zeke was at least smart to get his when he absolutely could. Would you have? Not mad at the dude. He gave his all and bodied up now he is gone. But TD,E Smith and Calvin Hill all went other places. I get it on some level my friend on your point of view however from a fanatic side of the equation.

So teams have shortened or completely eliminated pre season games and even snaps for players. NFL shortens preseason games (admittedly that could just be THIS year IDK)

But it was only zeke that came out not to your liking?

Whether you like it or not....they had a lot in common. Maybe when loading your X-box game.....Emmitt gets more "off season work ethic" bars. But in heart, loyalty, and several stats...they are quite similar.

I criticized Barkley for his injury issues and even I said I don't think his rookie season was special.

From the list I looked at, Peterson's 2007 season was the one that stands out the most.

And Emmit didn't?

And this is where you put me on ignore AGAIN>
Yes, Smith did benefit from that. He went from a great RB to a legend due to his longevity in the league while continuing to play at a high level.

There is absolutely no comparison to be made here between Zeke and Smith. Smith was by far the better back. End of.

He was of course...a better back.

But I say it yuet again....they had a LOT in common ...inlcuding stats, heart, dedication.

They never asked Emmitt to hike the ball as the only O-lineman. They wouldn't DARE ask. But we did zeke and he said yes.

"End of"

I totally get this, but comparing the two is absolutely wild to me.

And by wild? I mean obscene. Just a totally different level.

Emmitt vs. Zeke? There’s literally no comparison at all.

It's a shame, but at his salary and production it was an easy decision.
