While it's great to debate all the "modern era" Cowboy greats who deserve to be in the HOF, there are several old school Cowboys that have been repeatedly screwed by the HOF voting members who have been waiting far far too long and are very overdue to get in. A lot of folks consider the HOF a joke until that situation is fixed.

Chuck Howley, Drew Pearson, Cliff Harris and Harvey Martin. Maybe with Guy getting in these guys can be considered by the Senior Committee.

Jimmy should be in, but I don't think it will happen. His Super Bowls won per year coached in the NFL is probably the best or very near the best ever.

The problem is that they won't give him credit for being the acting GM despite the fact that he picked all of the players and make all of the trades.

Haley not being in is silly. Off-field antics shouldn't be a big part of the process. If he had played in NY he would be in.

Being biased, I want to see the Moose get in just because of the lack of appreciation of the fullback position. He was one of the last great ones. Also, people say that the Cowboys were good in the 90s because of Jimmy Johnson and not Jerry Jones, so why not Jimmy? Or is Jerry due some credit which would take away from Jimmy's success?

I'd laugh at Jerry if Jimmy got in the HOF. lol

Haley and Walls should be in...Woodson I believe will get in and should get in as well.

Generally there is a long term success aspect, especially for coaches. There are some short term exceptions. Bill Walsh only coached 10 years, had 3 SB wins and had a winning percentage of .609 regular season and .714 playoffs.

George Allen coached 12 years, reg season winning percentage of .712 but playoffs only .222. No Super Bowl win.

Joe Gibbs coached 16 years but he obviously got in due to his first Commanders gig. There he had 11 seasons, he was 124-60 in regular season, 16-5 in playoffs and had 3 SB Champs.

John Madden had 10 years, great reg season winning percentage of .763 but average playoff record f .563 and only one SB.

So back to Jimmy. He had 9 seasons, .556 regular season but .692 in playoffs and 3 Championships. The playoff success in a short period of time is unmatched so having viewed this, I do think Jimmy belongs in the Hall. He clearly has a better resume than George Allen.

Hate to say you are probably right...we appreciate Woody in Dallas much more than national football fans and media do. The reality is he really wasn't the force we all admire until the later 90's and under Campo when the team was on the decline. He was our only true talent on D for a minute there, until Ellis.

That will be for 2015, 2017, and 2019 only. For the years in between and afterward, they will go back to two senior candidates.

Example 1A: Dave Robinson, Packers' LB in the 60s, (3 Pro Bowls, 1 All-Pro) goes on to serve on the HOF's Board of Directors for 27 years. He gets voted in by the Seniors Committee two years ago, and is now a Hall of Famer.

Chuck Howley, Cowboys' LB in the 60s (6 Pro Bowls, 5 All-Pro, SBMVP) doesn't even get a sniff.

I think the fact that Jerry has only one playoff win since Jimmy left speaks volumes about Jimmy's legacy. Jerry's longstanding ineptitude as a GM benefits Jimmy with each passing year.
