The only fan of the Claiborne pick at this point is Rod Hill.

I like Claiborne and think he will prove to many he has the skill to be very good. This is only his 3 year. Whatever happen to giving a guy 3 years. Everybody loves Sean Lee but you don't say he is a bust, Dez and Murray stayed hurt their first few years in the league now they seem to stay healthy.

I give players 3-4 years. Claiborne has done some good things, he has also made mistakes but I feel he has looked better this far in training camp. Last year they played mostly zone which isn't his strong suit, let him play man up and see what happens

Claiborne certainly needs the reps but he's too busy battling injuries to get them. He's going to have injury issues all season I've pretty much given up on him ever becoming a solid reliable player. He'll be gone maybe even before his contract is up. As for Romo reps are essential for him because he plays the most important position on the team and needs to be sharp entering the season. He spent the entire offseason rehabbing his back and needs the reps to be ready to go.

He was held back in OTA's and in training camp so he needs to practice. He looked pretty good last week but he didn't play much and according to reports will only play 2 series on Saturday. It will be 15 days before he plays again and I'm not so sure he's going to be sharp with the limited reps he's been getting this summer. He's going to be a facing a very stout SF defense opening day.

I agree I think we are saying the same thing just in different ways.

Claibrorne needs the reps...he missed some training campp and now it looks like he is going to miss all of this preseason.

He has been missing training camp since he has been here. Dude needs to figure out how to put some muscle on his body and man up.

Camp Carrotcake.

Camp or the players? Seems to me there are a lot of players with nicks and bruises, who would be playing if the game was for real. When I had season tickets back in the Super Bowl days, I really felt cheated by having to pay for the preseason games, especially the first or fourth game. Nothing has changed.

I dont think Claiborne has the speed to keep up with elite receivers.

When has Murray stayed healthy?

I gathered from your post that you feel Claiborne needs the reps more than Romo and I don't agree. Granted Claiborne needs reps but the Cowboys are done if Romo isn't sharp to start the season. Romo hasn't had near the work he normally gets this summer because the Cowboys are playing it cautious. He's missed practice reps in OTA's, training camp and he's not getting his normal amount of game reps in preseason. The defense is going to struggle this season so it's all going to be on Romo and the offense to outscore opponents. I don't put a lot of weight on preseason performances but the Cowboys defense has given up 57 points in their first 2 preseason games.

The offense gave up 7 points on a fumble exchange and some of that could have been due to the lack of reps Romo has been getting. The Cowboys offense can ill afford to be giving up points with the defensive issues they'll undoubtedly have. Personally I would play Romo a full half vs Miami to be sure he's sharp and ready to start the season. SF can really put some heat on the QB and Romo needs to get a good feel for pressure and game action. He can't afford to be tentative on opening day against SF's defense. I doubt there's a starting QB in the league that will end the preseason with fewer game and practice reps than Romo.

I think Jason Garrett means it more as if you don't get the reps, you won't be prepared. Parcells was just a jerk about it, and that makes some guys around here moist, but Garrett's a better motivator and leader than Parcells, in my opinion.

So Parcells went to the playoffs with Quincy Carter and Garrett hasn't been able to make it with Romo at quarterback but he's a better motivator and leader. Riiight. Where do you guys get some of this stuff.

Uh, yes they do.

It is a lot more costly put it that way. at the end of pre season no one gives a damn about what your record was. Claiborne is at practice he is working out, they do not want to take a chance with the shoulder at this point and I don't blame them. It would be stupid to risk a player when you don't have to

I wonder if the team will treat this as a standard pre-season game and move the dress rehearsal to game 4.
It would make sense given our injury woes.

I don't think the team can risk anything with Claiborne right now.
They have to sell out to get him through weeks 1-4.

It does interest me that he engenders so much rampant hate while we have 3 or 4 guys who have not taken a meaningful snap yet this year.
He's played in 25 of the 32 games he's been in this league for. He's still 24.

Poor Sean Lee has been in 46 games and is already 28. He has played in 17 games during the time Mo has played in 25 and already will miss this entire season.

They'd miss that one to.

I'd sooner sit the walking wounded in a meaningless preseason game than to put them at risk. It's just the sensible thing to do.

That quote sounds like something Parcells would say to the media as a message to the player.

That is not JG's style, I think they would just tell them behind closed doors, and not go through the media. I sure there is much more they say to the players, but just don't need to tell the media or fans about it.
And we know how the media would run with it, if something like that was said here.

The problem with this is that we know how Lovie and Bill handled it, you're assuming on how it's handled in Dallas but we don't know really. You're saying that the guy that pats players on the back when the fumble or throw an int, is somehow being a hardarse behind closed doors.
