Are there any teams desperate to slightly upgrade their back up qb?

If not (there isn't 't and never will be) then his career is probably over this off season.

I like him and appreciate what he did last season but he is not and never will be a starting calibre nfl qb.

Nobody's interested in a trade for Cooper Rush.

And why would the Cowboys ship away their top backup QB for like a future conditional 7th anyways? If Dak misses a game or 2, Coop has proven he can drive the bus and win.

For a team with deep playoff aspirations like the Cowboys, what sense would this move make?

I thought this would be about Sam Williams.

A toolsy edge rusher relegated to spot duty and ST (He looked great as a gunner on the punt team).

A team in need of pass rush help might overpay.

A limited B/U QB, I don't see it.

Yes I would trade him. The boys rarely win when trading players away. They usually get less than market value which means they'd probably have to give up picks to move rush.

I'm not a hater. He's a Dallas Cowboy dummy!!! I love the Cowboys and cheer for each and every player that wears the star. He has stepped in and did an admirable job when Dak was injured and I cheered him on just as much as I have cheered our other players.

I actually lobbied for him to keep the starting job if he was able to lead us past the Eagles that year. (And that's on record right here in CZ)

Nice try at baiting me kid. But you look dumb once again for being totally wrong. It isn't the first time.
Oh I wasn't trying to be right!

You missed the entire point...not surprising.

Maybe we all should be more careful about using that word, eh?

Several starting QBs across the NFL were hurt today to go along with guys guys like Aaron Rodgers and DeShawn Watson who were already hurt. Kurt Cousins may have blown an Achilles and Matt Stafford may be out for a while with his injured thumb. The jets may still be looking for a veteran backup since Zach Wilson has been meh. Sone teams are close enough to competing for a playoff spot and could use a vet QB now.

Some of those teams may be interested in trading for Cooper Rush. If the offer were right I would do it for these reasons:
  • Rush is not really in the future plans here.
  • The Cowboys need to see what they have in Trey Lance anyway.
  • Maybe a team would also part with a player we could use.
IMO the Cowboys would be wise to shop Rush right now while they are hopefully shopping for some other trade options to strengthen this roster. Would you be willing to trade Cooper Rush?
Wilson looked pretty good coming from behind to beat the Giants yesterday with one minute left, that's an overly scrutinized young man at 23 Imo.

I'd take a 4th for Rush, we won't get the call

Fans always overrate their own talent. Cooper Rush is the worst backup QB in the division. Tyrod Taylor, Jacoby Brissett, and Marcus Mariota are all superior players to Cooper Rush.

Rush had a nice little run last year when Dak got hurt, but the league told us what they think of Rush relative to other backups by the contracts they awarded the other players I mentioned, and that's just in our division. When you broaden that across the rest of the league it looks even worse for Rush.

I don't think anyone would be interested in him because of his limited exposure to any coaches out there. Teams tend to look for someone that has a past relationship with the OC or HC at this point in the season.

Like you, I’m not that impressed with Rush’s ability. But I do think he might have some value NOW for this reason: All the teams who have QBs hurt who didn’t at the beginning of the season might have an interest now because they need someone to give them a few games as a temporary stopgap until the starter is back.

trade for a back up QB who is 30 years old and extremley limited. what do you expect to get? an 8th round pick?

I don't know how to rank the relative absurdity level of the things being thrown out in this thread. They all max out my scale.
  • The idea that someone would trade a second-day pick (or a 4th or a 5th) for Rush.
  • The idea that the Cowboys should turn down a second-day pick for Rush.
  • The idea that someone would trade a second-day pick for Lance.

Only if Jerry is the one looking for a QB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jerry traded for Matt Cassell, he of the really bad arm. Cooper's arm is worse.

Why Not?

Rush has been a decent backup. A team desperate to stay in the playoff hunt for a veteran QB to fill in until their starter is back would be interested. Rush was 4-1 last year and some teams might be willing to part with something to have his services to stay in a playoff race.
Man, Bob, if you think so. I'd trade him in a heartbeat for any late round pick.
