Any explanation that starts out with, "Williams ran the wrong route" should not end with. "...and it was Romo's fault".

You got that right. Seeing someone compare it to a playoff game lol..... Makes me wonder about our fan base.

It was over thrown big deal. Surprised Romo is not getting blamed for the nice plays that resulted in fumbles. lol

Something tells me if I went to the Broncos forum, there wouldn't be a single thread on Peyton way overthrowing his target on the deep ball last game. Here, there's a 10 page thread on it and several threads that got derailed into 6+ page threads on it. Sometimes I wonder why I even come here anymore. *shrug*

Dallas looks different to me this year on defense. I am seeing a ton of hustle and gang style tackles out there. They look very aggressive and I'm loving that. That is coming directly from the coaching they are getting too. I haven't noticed any major differences on offense yet though, still same ole there. Just a few new pieces.

Pass protection has looked good in preseason, overall. That's a change. Interior pressure, other than from stunts and the like, has been good.

Off-tackle runs, or runs that are bounced outside have been prominent with Dunbar in the game. Passes behind the LoS. We haven't done a ton with the multiple TEs in the passing game, but that's coming. We just got Williams back this week, so the stuff we're going to do with Austin in the slot we haven't seen much of, either. Overall, though, I think the offense has looked quite a bit different, too.

Frankly I give up on some of our fans, they are so agenda driven that no matter what Romo does it will not matter. Their minds are made up so be it. I have no issue with putting responsiblity on any player but when it is a constant attack it is not worth discussing

Romo overthrew him...no big deal it happens, but Williams not running the crossing route has absolutely nothing to do with the fact Romo overthrew him since he saw he was running the go route

I don't see how Williams was at fault at all. The ball was thrown right to the sideline. If there was a route adjustment made by Williams, Romo saw it and threw it the way he was headed. Plus, he was wide open behind the entire defense. So whatever route adjustment he did make, if it gets you wide open behind the entire D.. it was probably a good read on your part.

He overthrew it.. it happens. Lets just admit it, and get over it.

Williams made the wrong route adjustment based on the defensive coverage.

Romo took the blame but not for over throwing him. He said he should've adjusted to Williams running the wrong route.

Why? Nobody's above criticism and although I think we could do worse at QB, Romo has his warts and they tend to come out at the worst possible times.

You're not getting my point. There are those that live to come here and rant about how much Romo sucks every week. Even if they have only 1 play to complain about, they'll be here in force. Just look at the posts since Saturday.

Romo has missed one of these pretty much each game. It's pre-season and I'd like to think that Romo is probably going to WRs he may not normally look for in a game to kind of see what he's got there. However, when the season starts, I have to think that Romo will go back to looking for Dez 80% of the time he throws to WRs.

I can't believe some of the threads that go on for ever like this.

Romo did overthrow him. Apparently he was expecting him to run a crossing route as the adjustment to the coverage so the fly caught him by surprise but bottom line he missed the throw.

I don't think Romo threw him under the bus at all, he was just explaining the situation, and I don't think that Romo tried ducking from blame either. Romo said he was pleased with most of what Williams did and that they just need a little more work to get on the same page.

I am not sure why there is some big drama here.

It appeared that the veteran quarterback was at fault. But Williams took the blame for running the incorrect route on Monday.

“He pointed a safety out and I was just too focused on the play that he called instead of doing the check down,” Williams said. “I just have to continue keep learning how he calls things and just use my eyes more and just have confidence.”

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett didn’t call out Williams when he was asked during his Monday press conference about the missed opportunity at a possible touchdown.

Garrett said Williams “did a pretty good job running the route.”

“There was a communication thing we’ve got to get cleaned up,” Garrett said. “That’s also on us as coaches. But the actual route that he ran was certainly run the right way.”

No chance to get Romo’s side of the story on Monday. The 33-year-old declined interviews in front of his locker.

LOL, what does that even mean? He's been taking lessons from Jerry.

The wrong route was run the right way but a right and wrong doesn't necessarily make it right or wrong. But we know two wrongs don't make a right, right?

It means that he missed the read, but he ran a nice pattern on what he did run.

Even Williams acknowledged what he missed. Can this please just die? Receiver ran wrong route for the coverage but got open. QB a little surprised by the route but overthrew the wide open receiver.

Whether you fault Romo or Williams, .. in the NFL you don't get many opportunities to have a WR that far behind the defense, .. you simply can not miss that chance, .. and yet again, we did. (Austin and Crayton ?)

That has to be a TD. Only good thing about it was that it was a preseason game, .. this time.
