Shanahan comment about Romo

Defense wins Super Bowls folks. Top 4 Qb's in the League (and arguably some of the best ever) Peyton, Tom, Drew, Aaron. Only one has more than 1 SB and he had one of the best defenses around when he got all three. Every appearance since he's been beaten by Eli and the Giants then studded defense.

Love the OP. But most aren't going to change their mind because Shanahan says they're wrong. I mean he doesn't know anything more than Aikman, Staubach, Garrett yada. What do they know? /sarcasm off

^ Yup.

Peyton Manning said "We’re playing a good NFL football team" when discussing this week's game with the Jaguars. I would think as long as many of you have followed the NFL that you'd know to take what people on other teams say about our team with a grain of salt, pro or con.

It's one thing to say "We're playing a good NFL football team" It's another to be discussing a QB and have multiple go as far as saying "He's a better QB than I was" "I'd take Tony Romo as my QB in a heartbeat." Those are forward, supportive statements, not pat on the bottoms for making it in to the NFL.

Romo put 48 pts on the board, .. putting us up 7 after being behind by 11, .. after outscoring the Broncos 21-3.

That is more than any QB should have to do.

I am a little amused at myself for defending Romo, .. because I have my own reservations about him. I am by no means a Romo homer.
But after this game, this week, I have to defend him.

Coming from behind in the 4th quarter, and putting your team up 7 late in the 4th quarter is what championship QB's are expected to do.

Holding that lead is what championship defense's are expected to do.

You figure it out.

Uhhh...no

Sooo..romo held the defense to 3 points down that stretch? I'm beginning to see what you all love about the guy, he does it all.

Really?

I didn't realize I would have to spell it all out to explain EVERYTHING to you.

Someone else help him out here, .. I don't have the time or patience.

Great stats. Thanks.

Another stat I've love to see is how many times Romo has led the offense from behind in the 4th quarter to take a lead, only to have the game lost by the defense because of their inability to hold it. I would wager that it's happened to Romo more than these other guys.

I think 51 likes in almost 2,400 messages says plenty on his opinion. Don't waste your breathe.

Why? He's only going to hear what he already wants to believe, anyway. If last week's game didn't convince him, nothing is going to.

Help him out? Why are you asking for a miracle?

People say Romo choked but then forget how he led us back from 15 down in the second half to take the lead. A choker doesn't even get that far.

It's all relative. You can also say that he lost a 14 point lead and allowed Denver to score 21 without answering. I mean, I don't necessarily agree with that but it's all relative. There is no easy answer here. Until Romo wins, these things will follow him. Some of it is deserved, a lot of it is not but it doesn't matter. Perception is what it is and it will outlive any mans career unless you change it.

For the record, I do believe that Romo is a different QB this year. Yeah, he has made some mistakes but I don't see him as the same, somewhat reckless, decision maker he has been at times in the past. He's really playing excellent football right now. The best since he was with Parcells IMO.

The only reason this team has even been competitive this year is because of Tony. I don't even bother wasting my breath with idiots that think he's the problem, let alone a problem. He's a good QB on an average team, with an average coach, and a piss poor front office.

It's hard to win in this league, it's even harder when your best player is constantly carrying the burden of an entire franchise on his back. I pray for the day that he wins a ring and shuts everyone up but I can't see that day in the near future because he has to overcome so much.

What more can you ask of an undrafted free agent? Shatter the NFL single game passing record and win a shootout with a living legend like Peyton Manning?

Lets drag ole Drew Bledsoe back out here, think Vinny Testaverde has anything left in the tank? Hell, lets draft a couple more baseball players.

Appreciate what we have in Tony because you don't really appreciate what you got until it's gone.

You dominate today by throwing the ball and scoring a lot of points. No longer is it 4 yards and a cloud of dust and a great defense.l

Alex Smith and the KC Chiefs say hello.

Kapernik just smiles and nods.

When/If Romo wins a Super Bowl it will be the sweetest victory to shut up all the nay sayers.

This is the problem with Romo lovers. He has a really good game, like he does every year, and people lose their mind. Elway took sorry teams to the Super Bowl way before he met Shanahan. Romo, we just want the dude to get in the playoffs right now. I know all great QBs in history didn't win Super Bowls, but they were at least in the playoffs most years competing for Super Bowls. Our expectations are so low for Romo and the Cowboys, it's just laughable. Try winning or making the playoffs 1 time before we even think about Super Bowls.

And I'll say it again, QB play is the difference between a Super Bowl winner and an 8-8 team.

Even on a sorry team, great QB play will keep you in the playoffs.
