Jerry supposedly had lunch with him so
maybe he wants too much.

Difference makers are not let go in week 12 or 13. Dallas normally takes a flyer on guys like this, see Rashaan Evans. If he left without a deal there has to be a little more to it. For those of you upset by him leaving with no deal what do you think a LB coming off of 2 back surgeries is worth?
If he was another Hankins i would be pretty happy.

The Eagles have less than 2.4 million in cap space. Not saying they won't sign him but if they do it won't be because of a big contract offer.
He can’t sign for more than he was due to be paid by Indianapolis this season. Whatever he signs for the Colts pay the difference. His age and recent physical issues likely encourage him to seek a multi-year deal. It’s next year’s cap space for the team interested in signing him, not this year’s cap space. He’ll take the best deal he gets offered.

For all of those people saying this is about salary it isn't. Leonard had a guaranteed salary for 2023 when he was cut by the Colts. Meaning that the only way he would make more money is if a team paid him in excess of the $6 million that was left on his guaranteed contract with the Colts for the remainder of the 2023 season. He is guaranteed $6 million regardless so if Dallas was only offering $1 million then he would end up getting $1 million from Dallas and $5 million from the Colts or if Dallas offered $3 million then he would get $3 million from the Colts. The only way money comes into play is if a team offered him more than the $6 million to play the next 6 games or if some team offered him an extended contract. Him not signing with Dallas comes down to one of two things.

1) Dallas didn't think he was healthy

or

2) he wanted to explore playing for other teams - doesn't mean he won't eventually choose Dallas

Money most likely won't be the motivation for where he signs unless some team gets stupid and throws ridiculous money at him.
I don’t think that’s how it works for him.

However, that is the only guaranteed money left on the contract beyond the 2023 season. His $15.7 million base salary in 2023 became fully guaranteed during the offseason so the Colts are still on the hook for that over the remainder of the season.

I think whatever money he’s paid from his next team is on top of his already guaranteed money.

And that’s why he’s making his visits and trying to get a bidding war going for his services.

Of course he left...didn't you hear Jerry yesterday on 105.3 gushing over the Thanksgiving ratings....that is ALL that matters to him and Chuckles. Have you EVER heard another owner of GM gush about ratings of a game they played in? I HATE this organization!!!

Interesting to read the responses to this news. It's like most in here think Leonard can not only play but play at a high level in this league and the Cowboys are missing out on the next Randy Moss.

When the truth comes out, like it always does, someone will have some explaining to do. I'll be very interested in seeing who in here has to defend themselves or the Cowboys for not signing him.

He had back surgery to correct two discs in his back impacting nerves that made tingling sensations down to his feet.

It's not an injury that is common place. The Colts were going to make him inactive the rest of the year before his release.

Honestly, I wouldn't be upset if he didn't sign. He seems to be more of a name that faded quickly due to injuries.

If some what is being reported is true, he might have a hard time signing anywhere

i wonder if contract talks came down to Randy Gregory like deal ... without incentives or escape clauses and opt outs.
Or was there something not favorable with Shaq's physical exam (back issues) and workout ?
maybe his agent heard about Philly interests and is playing the market. either give me what I want or I go check out the next guy.

We traded for Hankins. The Raiders got something in return. He was not paid to go away or coming off major surgery. I hope he comes here and is light out, but is suspect there is more to come out of this.
