Go boast on a Chargers message board. There is only so much of this crap COWBOY fans can tolerate. You cant change the past, we are all painfully aware of your opinion. Move on.

well, we're "stuck" w/ Ware, deal w/ it

I'm not mad about having Ware, you have to understand that. I'm just stating a FACT. Thats no dig on Ware, heck, I believe Ware will probably match Merriman's numbers in a different way.

Summer, we have talked about it before, and you are still blind to it a bit. We are talking about fire again. I don't know how much football you have played, but it makes a difference on the field and in the lockerroom.

I don't think it's really fair to make a comparison between Ware and Merriman yet.

The Raiders played and looked like absolute garbage. Even worse than the Cowboys looked last year against the Deadskins. They may as well have not even been using an offensive line.

It will take at least another full season or two to have any real meaningful games or numbers to look at. Merriman has looked slightly better thus far, but Ware still has plenty of gametime left to do something.

fine, Ware doesn't have a mean-streak, watch Charger games instead

Good for Merriman ... he notched the first 3 sack game of his career. Ware already has one of those to his credit.

And Ware created all three of his sacks in that game. Merriman, as usual, benefitted from other pass-rushers so he could rack up two of his sacks. (He was the THIRD guy to hit Brooks on one sack, and the entire pocket collapsed on another. On both of those, Merriman was left 1-on-1 with a fullback.) On the other one, Merriman should have gotten the sack right away but whiffed, then got lucky because after he let Brooks get away from him, he scrambed right back to him when he was on the ground.

Does anyone actually doubt that Ware would rack up just as many sacks if the rest of our defense put as much pressure on quarterbacks as the rest of the Chargers did?

Bill press conference 8/1
Ware over Merriman?
Both good players. Little to choose between them. Merriman would have done well here.

I wonder why bill said this. Maybe because he wanted Merriman. Uh yes!!

it looks like a compliment, nothing more

This what you aren't getting, calm down and listen.

I can be a fan of the Cowboys, but still look at things without blue and silver glasses on.

Just cause a player is better at some things than a Cowboy doesn't make me a fan of that team or player. I'm just evaluating things in an unbasised way.

Sorry, but that excuse is no longer valid in 2006. Our defense is supposed to be special, remember? After all the drafting and free agent acquisitions, we're supposed to have just as much talent as SD--especially since they lost Foley. If you are of the opinion that SD is superior, then we are in deep deep trouble and someone at Valley Ranch should be sued for fraud.

I hear what you're saying, but you're talking to the wrong guy, I've never belittled Merriman, I can agree that he's a better pass-rusher, but there are extinuating circumstances as to why, you let Ware loose like the Chargers do Merriman, and the situation that he's in, with other good pass-rushers, and you'll be seeing about the same production

My question more importantly is why don't we put more pressure on the passer, we have more of a passive defense. I understand that, but I think we should be bringing 2 LBs (5 total) alot more often. Our secondary is supposed to be good, rushing 5 isn't giving up too much.

maybe if dallas decided to use ware the way the chargers use merriman thenjust maybe he would have 15-18 sacks a game..but half the time ware is used in coverage..something to think about, before trying to proclaim merriman should be in dallas

Did you see Leftwich getting sacked six times by Ware's teammates Sunday?

Did you see the entire pocket collapsing around Leftwich?

Did you see Leftwich bouncing off two other guys and right to Ware?

If not, then it is valid. San Diego has better pass-rushers around Merriman, and he benefits greatly from them -- just as he did last season. All of Ware's sacks have come with very little or no help from anyone else on our defense. It's almost the opposite for Merriman.

Cool. Well, those people that need to read it are reading our discussion, so maybe they are listening.......;)

I like them both, and I do love Ware, it is just an evaluation by me. Ware has alot of total skills that are harder to see. Merriman's dominant skill is there for everyone to see in the flashyest stat on D. Sure, Ware's skills have an effect on the game, but you can see Merriman's more, which puts him in a position of leadership on his team.
