I'm glad this is happening.

Somewhere, Roy is smiling.

This doesn't change much in terms of our competition with New York. Boss did fairly well in Shockey's absence last year, even though he's far from the receiving threat. It does make New Orleans more of a threat for the NFC title.

In a way, it is sad. I was looking forward to Shockey being a distraction and pain in Eli's behind.

Shockey in that Saints offense is going to be devestating if he can stay healthy.

Doesn't really hurt the Giants that much. Kevin Boss looked like a stud last year as a rookie.

As we all know-one of Shockey's big strengths are his run blocking to seal off the outside edges(which is one of the Giants' bread and butter).

Pt being that this also happens to be Reggie Bush's biggest strengths-running on the edges away from the tackles.

If the Saints get him, Bush could very well make the All Pro team.

That and like I mentioned above, he will open up holes on the outside edges for Reggie Bush.

If true, this gives S. Payton another weapon to deploy in his offense.

Finally a player is LEAVING the division. Are Westbrook or Shepard next? I hope.

I'd dare say that this makes the Saints the prohibitive favorites in the South, and a pretty big threat to our NFC championship hopes.

I don't think so. Shockey improves them but they still have no defense and no running game unless Deuce runs like crazy after that injury. That division always has a surprise team. I wouldn't be so quick to mark them down for the division title just yet.

Jeremy Shockey is leaving New York.

The Giants agreed to trade the tight end to the New Orleans Saints for second- and fifth-round draft picks, according to a report on FOXSports.com. The deal is pending league approval, and Shockey must also pass a physical.

The Saints had offered the Giants the same deal for Shockey prior to April's draft but were rebuffed.

The Saints and Giants had also previously discussed a three-team trade in which the Giants would have landed former Miami Dolphins defensive end Jason Taylor, who was traded to the Washington Commanders on Sunday, the Saints would have acquired Shockey and the Dolphins would have received draft picks, according to SI.com.

Yeah, The big Easy and Bourbon Street are a good place for him.

I guess I'm the only one who thinks the Giants got the better end of the deal. Shockey cannot block and he seems to cry about it whenever asked to do so. There is no denying his receiving talent, but make no mistake about it.....Jeremy Shockey is overrated and is not worth the headaches he brings at this point.

Nope, I'm with you.

People always want to look at offensive stats and ignore things like blocking, being a team player, not being a distraction, etc.

And I don't know why, but I just have a hunch Shockey will have trouble staying healthy the next few years. He is a blown-up WR, after all.

Tampa - won't be them b/c as history shows, the team that wins this division one year stinks it up the next.

Atlanta - bottom feaders in the entire league, and always will be.

Carolina - despite a questionable D(their Dline isn't once what it used to be), they nonetheless have a pretty dangerous O(with a healthy Delhomme, Steve Smith, signing DJ Hackett, drafting Jonathan Stewart, and drafting Jeff Otah to bolster their OL). With their weak schedule, their O is good enough for 10-11 wins.

If anything-it'll likely be a 2 team race.
