I guess I'm the only one who thinks the Giants got the better end of the deal. Shockey cannot block and he seems to cry about it whenever asked to do so. There is no denying his receiving talent, but make no mistake about it.....Jeremy Shockey is overrated and is not worth the headaches he brings at this point.

You're probably alone in that, yeah.
They would have had a better deal if they'd taken this year's #2, if that's what was offered before the draft. Saints with Shockey can contend this year.

What's it going to be then, eh?

Without a doubt. He is a huge headache and the more he talks the worse it is for everyone else. He is a big time player if he's quiet and works hard, as he did in his rookie season.

Perhaps he makes a turn-around in New Orleans with a different coach and quarterback, but it was fairly clear the environment for him in New York was not working out. It bears watching.

Yep-while I don't think Martellus Bennett is actually a "bust" like most Zoners here think, the Giants nonetheless should have gotten a #2 from them in the last draft, and used that on Bennett. Why? B/c MB fits Coughlin's run-first schemes alot better.

Shouldnt the Saints be trying to improve their garbage Defense??? anyway good trade for the giants getting rid of shockey and getting 2 draft picks for him

Wow, a 2 and a 5. That's it?

Shockey may be an a** but he's a very very good player.

What more did you expect them to get? Randy Moss is twice the player shockey is and shockey probably has a worse attitude than moss and the raiders only got a freakin 4th for him. if you ask me the Giants were lucky that anyone was willing to offer what the Saints offered

just on nfl network, the trade of shockey to saints is complete for a 2nd and a 5th pick

now the guys were talking about one more pro bowler, being Farve, maybe that deal gets done now

which leads me to now with 2 pro bowlers traded for 2nd rounders and late picks, could chad johnson now be traded or roy williams wr for detroit or bouldin, that looks like the going rate now, 2nd and 5th or 6th rounder, what do you guys think?

See this is what I am talking about. This is almost the same trade the Skins made.

The Skins gave up a 2nd and 6th for a 34 year old guy.

The Saints gave up a 2nd and 5th for a 27 year old guy.

A 2nd for a 34 year old guy is way too much. The Skins overpaid, end of story.

Not to say it will not work out for the Skins, I am sure it could, but Dallas may not need a 2nd WR either because Stanbach may be the next Anquan Boldin...if you know what I mean.

I think the Bengals and Lions want at least a 1st rounder for Chad and Roy, respectively.

As far as Shockey, I'm glad it's done so people can stop speculating. The Saints have added an idiot to their roster. If that idiot makes them better, good for them.

What a horrible comparison. Teams covet Pro Bowl pass rushing DEs a lot more than pro bowl TEs. Especially when that certain TE is a headcase. End of story.

What teams covet is defined by what they pay for them. Top DEs get more than top TEs, but I'm willing to bet, if Witten was a free agent, he would bring top dollar. Great teammate, a great pass catching TE that is a highly skilled blocker to boot. He is basically a top notch recevier that is less of a deep threat than the top notch receivers, but more versatile than the top notch receivers.

I agree about the Witten part. Hes a great TE, but the guy was talking about Shockey in his attempted compariso , not Witten. As far as what teams covet more, you let me know when the last time a TE went #1 overall.

The Saints just became more of a threat to the Cowboys Superbowl chances. They might have the best offense in the NFC now.

Can you name their starting WR's?

This offense will have to avoid injuries again, and they will have to put together a secondary somehow...

The Saints are probably the team that scares me the most in the NFC. They got off to a rough start last year after high expectations, but that offense was steam rolling people by the end of the eyar. They've quietly did a really nice job retooling that defense this offseason with Sedric Ellis, Jonathon Vilma, Bobby McCray and Randall Gay. Just keeping Jason David off the field could win them 2 more games this year. He made Jacque Reeves look like Aneas Williams in his prime.

Shockey and Bush are going to be a nightmare to defend, just because because there is no telling where Payton is going to line them up and motion them to.
