Should Dak play vs the Texans

if I counted correctly, Prescott has 99 plays under his belt in 3 games.

I think it's more important to get Showers more snaps and to get a vet backup in here and get them some snaps

It's silly to treat our rookie QB - who is slated to start week 1 - as a seasoned veteran who needs to be protected. He absolutely needs as many reps as he can possibly get, even if some of them are with the second team. Play the starters for a quarter if you have to, but Dak absolutely needs his reps if we're expecting him to start against the Giants.

If he plays then they need the whole starting offense to play. No reason to play him with backups.

I would say the starting line needs to play (keep Dak upright), Zeke will play anyway to get more experience, the WRs outside of Dez needs to play... So yea what's the big deal

No, if plays then our coaching staff is dumber than I ever imagined.

He needs more reps but could you imagine if Dak got injured? How in the world can Jerry sell this season on Showers?? A lot of people might not bother to watch.

Just lock him up in the film room and get to work for week 1!

Hate to break it to you people. But we were not winning a Super Bowl with Romo this year. We are not winning a Super Bowl with Dak this year. Dak needs to play. The starters need to play. This is a young team that NEEDS the reps. So I would get Dak, the OL, Elliot out there for a couple of seasons. What are we hiding? What are we protecting? It is high time for this organization and fanbase to RECOGNIZE who we REALLY are. We are .500 outfit...that have only been .500 BECAUSE of Romo. Now that Romo is gone...let's get these young guys ready to play. So this coaching staff is actually going to have to DO THEIR JOBS...and stop living off the arms/brain/legs of Tony Romo. The gig is up. And while I doubt very highly Jerry knows what he is doing...perhaps someone in that front office will be able to truly evaluate Garrett and convince Jerry what route to take going forward as pertains to Garrett.
I will never root for the Cowboys to lose. The thought of Garrett getting canned though. Makes me tingly all over. Especially with Sean Payton's contract coming up.

the amount Dak plays depends on the level of QB we bring in.
Assuming Dak is the starter this year, we play him as long as the rest of the offensive starters. which wont be long based on how things have gone.
If the new QB is expected to be the #2 then he will play the majority of the rest of the game. Showers the end, we know what we have.

Yes, absolutely . . . Dak should get in at least a half vs. Houston. What they decide to do with the 2nd half is up for grabs, depending totally upon what the FO and the staff decides to do about the question of Dak's backup. Will it go to Showers or perhaps a veteran QB? We shall see.

What a crappy situation that the team in forced into the position of NOT being able to play their rookie 4th round QB in a pre-season game.

How many quarters of pre-season does he have? 6?

All that said, I agree that they can't let him play this last game.

Yeah we're two years from the Super Bowl. play him a few series. Even if it's mostly runs, work on cadence, huddle management, slants, etc.

These next 2 weeks Dak needs to bury himself in Giant film with Romo sitting next to him. Forget the Texans
