It seems ROMO ribs are affecting his play.....I've read numerous reports that state he has to taken pain killing injections before the game just to play. I don't like the idea of playing ROMO hurt and losing.. I'd rather give Kyle ORTON a chance...and see what he can do. A healthy Orton is better than playing ROMO hurt.

ROMO needs to get healthy and take the Cowboys deep into the playoffs and he wont get healthy if he keeps getting hit. What happens when ROMO get hit in the RIBs again, what happens if his performance don't get any better....or even gets worse.. Kyle ORTON could play descent for a few games and give ROMO some time to heal. Not sure how long it takes for a RIB injury to heal but getting beat up on the 1st game of the season is gonna make a long season for ROMO. Not sure ROMO can last 14 more games with bad ribs....teams will be looking to smack him around.... At least it is time to start getting ORTON some reps in practice.

Obviously, no.

But, just as obviously, if the guy's in the lineup, then his ribs are not an excuse for problems with his play.

No. While I am worried Romo is possibly beginning to decline much earlier (only 33) that I would have expected, under no circumstance is Orton a better option than Romo.

It was only a matter of time before this thread cropped up. At least the OP is making a case based on a possible injury rather than arguing that Orton is better than Romo. Then again, we are playing the Rams next week right? maybe Romo should take a week off. I mean, its the Rams dude!

Decline? Over react much?

If Dez catches that pass in the 4th qtr I bet he runs it in. If that happens everyone here is talking about what an amazing game romo and Dez had. That's how thin the line is.

For instance, Matt Ryan threw a bad pass today behind a wide open Julio jones.....but....jones reached back and caught it In stride, it was a great catch....e then outran everyone to the end zone...81 yds on a bad pass. I have heard three different analysts mention the bug day Ryan had, again he threw a bad pass behind his wr who made the play for him.

That was the huge play. That's how this league is.

Fo everything that went wrong in the fourth qtr if Dez makes that routine catch and scores I don't think we lose.

If Romo comes out being inaccurate again and struggling with the 4 yard passes, then I think Garrett needs to make the decision that Romo's ribs are more bothersome than he is letting on and put Orton. Romo rarely has back to back stinkers.

So if we won today, would this thread exist? Lets be concerned about his ribs now that we lost.

I'd rather have Romo with no ribs at all, than Orton 100% healthy.

So if Romo was 100%, he'd be completing 95% of his passes instead of 75%? He'd have 0 interceptions instead of 1 tipped interception?

He didn't have one today, IMO.

Well, if he was going to do it it would have been the 4th qtr of this game after the meds wore off. That's it. By next week, Romo should be much better.
Subbing him for 1qtr would have been dicey though. He only really had 2-3 bad series there toward the end, so it would have been hard to predict.
My guess is that Orton woud have thrown a pick or two..but who knows.

Romo did not suck. He just had a couple of really ugly series.
About 300 yards, 1td, no picks and about a 100 rating on the road against a very good defense does not suck.

Really? I know Romo didn't play a great game but if Dez catches that long pass in 4th Q that hit him the hands he's still running (TD)....we probably win. Or Carter ctaches that INT before half it would have been a pick 6. Or Dunbar doesn't fumble after getting a 1st in Chief's territory, or Claiborne doesn't get a PI on Chiefs on last drive at least we get ball back and have a chance.

Point is, it's a team sport and Romo was not the reason we lost.

If you are not going to use Orton or believe in Orton, why waste a roster spot on him?

and if Orton came in and hit Dez we'd be screaming play the player with the hot hand? You cant live your life by what ifs. Romo is hurt, accept the fact that the Cowboys banked on his health for a whole season KNOWING he was going to get whacked.
