A lot of people are probably wondering this. Personally I think he should, he's taken too many shots, and I think he should seriously consider it. I'm tired of seeing him getting laid out. bash away

Tony wont retire yet, he wants to get SB ring, more money, and he is addicted to it.
Fans want him to win SB, and some just want him to keep playing regardless of his injury's.

Jerry isnt ready to retire Romo either, so as long as he wants Romo, Tony will continue to play.
I think many of the players want dak to start, but they cant say that.
They should give dak some of the games this year, to test him, and to lighten romo's load.
But they wont do that tony will start each week.

I watched Merril Hoge talking about Romo this morning on ESPN. He said Romo should seriously consider retiring. His body has taken a tremendous amount of abuse over the years. More than most NFL players certainly. Merril said Romo will likely have 30-40 years of life after football and he is putting those years in jeopardy at this point given his history. He made a compelling case.

OMG he must be a horrible fan and an idiot!!!! /sarcasm

Some people are seriously burying their head in the sand and trying to talk themselves into that nothing is wrong with the Romo situation we have. When in fact, we are playing with fire every single game with him under center. And so is he in terms of his own body.

I remember reading this offseason people saying that Romo's back is now stronger and he will be good to go. And the first real contact he gets on the back and he goes down motionless. And we are supposed to not question is durability and if he should keep playing?

I started this thread, and its not whether or not Tony can play at a high level, it was about his ability to remain healthy, this guy has taken a lot of shots, had a lot of surgeries, and is getting up there in age...I see a guy that could be one more hit from being forced to retire. thats all.....this isnt Romo vs Dak in anyway.

I suspect this is Romo's last season. There's no way I'm 100 percent certain, but it reminds me of Joe Montana's later years. He could still play well and was the very best in the league at reading and exploiting defenses, but he kept getting injuries and the Chiefs would have to put in their backup. I could, of course, be wrong. Maybe he stays healthy enough play 2 or 3 more seasons. What I would absolutely love would be for him to get his Super Bowl ring this year finally similar to how Elway get his in the twilight of his career. Similar to that Broncos team, we have an outstanding O-line and an excellent running game. However, we don't have the defense that that team had.

I want to see Romo get a Super Bowl victory so bad! He's a really likable guy and is one of the best quarterbacks this team has ever had. Plus, his is such a great story. Unlike Staubach and Aikman, he came out of nowhere as a free agent. At first, I thought he was just another camp arm.

Barry Sanders didn't retire. Or quit. He left football to protect what was left of his body.

*** is wrong with that? Spare me.

QFT...he's just too fragile at this point. That wasn't that hard of a hit but he has NO ability to take a hit anymore. He's so stiff, rigid and yes....scared that as soon as he's engaged it's not a matter of if he'll get hurt but how badly. I say retire....we might only win about 6-8 games this season but we can finally move ON. No way he makes it to Thanksgiving in one piece. Sad, but true.

You people don't deserve Romo. Go route for the Commanders.

I don't believe Romo will finish the season standing.

I think in 2 years we will look back and wish that Romo had retired before this season. We would be that much closer to being a play off contender with Dak leading the way. How ugly is it going to get with Romo continually getting hurt before he officially calls it quits?

When teams gameplan for Dak, then we'll know if we are so called close.

Yup! That's the only thing holding my "unless the Dak era" logic back a little. I'd like Dak slow cooked/smoked instead of grilled to use BBQ terminology. Low and Slow!! But damn if the football gods insist on it being hard and fast then at least let's get a SB out of it. I'd personally like Dak for several years to be the next franchise QB.

Romo had to get hit hard and not get hurt to gain confidence he was healthy and able to get back on track. We are lucky it happened when it did. Now everyone will know he can take the pounding.

I see it as a good thing.

There it is then, their saying broken bones?
MRI reveals broken bone in his back...whether people want to admit it or not, he can't with stand the hits like he used too. I hope he considers retiring or maybe even accepting a backup role in the future.

This injury will make him slower and even more fragile. He will stay on the team and collect his money for as long as he can(i would). I dont see him playing much before he does retire, less then 10 games.
