Should the Cowboys bring back unrestriced FA Demarcus Ware?

That's fine, I'll take my chances on the two under-25 year olds moving forward. Not going to build a team off reminiscing

We're talking about a 1-2 year contract. Who said anything about building around him? He's better than anything we have and there's a chance he takes a discount to play for us. If the money is right, it's a no-brainer. Obviously, you keep looking for a long-term solution in the meantime.

He's breaking down repeatedly already.

And that's with less wear and tear playing in a 3-4 defense.

He started to get injured playing in this 4-3 several years ago. The odds of it happening again are even higher now.

And he's accustomed to making big money. He'll either demand a large salary to put himself through the grind again, or he'll outright retire.

And this team already has way too many linemen with bad backs as it is.

El Paso.

For some reason I think it would be the right move.

1. It bridges the 1 year gap to see what Gregory can contribute.

2. Doesn't force our hand to reach for a DE in the draft.

Allows us to select the BPA...which will probably be a CB.

Comments?
I'm all in.

Even if we was limited in his snaps which he would be.

We lost our pass rush when he left.

As a cheap, situational player, he couldn't give us less than Jack Crawford, even with a broken back.

for 1 million dollars. He will play in 6 games and get 3 sacks total, so is that what you want?

For the right price. Part of the rotation...

He could be A situational pass rusher like the role Dwight Freeney has settled into

Absolutely NOT!
Just say no to DWare, who never performed ata high level in the 4-3.
Get younger, not older....don't sign any FA DE over 30.

He's on record of saying he wants to return to Denver. Has already met with the new HQ and accepted his role as a rotational player with Miller and Ray starting on the edges. We have enough rotational players and Floaty...he didn't play for Boise!! Shame shame!! ;)

When a player says "I like the most recent I have been with or current team I am with and hope to stay here", or variations of that, it means nothing. Thats called diplomacy. Ignore it.

But if he's so good, why is he available?
He's not - he was once a good player but is now washed up. I was just mocking 75% of 2012/13 Zoners who literally would want us to bring in any player who had once been good.

1. Signing Ware to hold the Cowboys over until Gregory can contribute is a huge mistake. That means they are counting on Gregory to actually contribute at some point. The Cowboys have to move past that thinking and manage their roster as if Gregory is never returning.

2. Sign Ware or not the Cowboys still need to go DE in the first and again ASAP. We need a infusion of talent at DE and bringing Ware back can't stop or even slow down that plan.

The Cowboys need to go DE with 2 of the first 3 picks and get the best one possible not named Ware in FA. After adding those 3 players if they want to sign Ware I don't care. Mediocrity needs replaced and impact players brought in. If that includes Ware so be it. But I don't think he is any more.

Even if we drafted Myles Garrett or signed Chandler Jones we still would need more playmakers

DWare can be that playmaker with 0 risk

For those of you that respect aging...and know what a trend-line looks like....here are Ware's sack totals the past three years

10
7.5
4

Notice anything? And if you want to excuse it to injuries...those are part of aging too, ya'all.

4 sacks for 210 snaps is still pretty good and he is only 34 with surgically repaired back, not 40

and you forgot the 3.5 playoff sacks he got the year they won the SB

So not signing Ware means we will be reaching for a DE in the draft. Otay.
