Should the Dallas Cowboys trade Zack Martin before the trade deadline?

I don't think you trade Martin unless someone overpays. I know he isnt an all pro in 2024, but hes still a solid G as long as he is healthy. You just gave your QB who is now over 30 a new deal, even if this team isnt going anywhere you should keep the best 5 on the OL just to make sure Dak doesn't take a ton of extra wear and tear.

The ideal time to have traded Martin has passed. As usual, Jerry holds on to players too long when they are not worth much. Martin has really fallen off the cliff big time.
First of all, who knew his play would decline like it has this year? You can't blame Jerry for that.

Secondly, his play has just declined some. It hasn't "fallen off the cliff big time". That's an overreaction.

they let tyron go for free and he was the consumate professional and organization kinda guy. zack held out and then put forth his worst performances. no time to get sentimental

2nd comment has nothing to do with what he does on the football field. He has lead the league in interceptions since he arrived.
It absolutely does because it shows his character. Low character players mail it in after they sign a big contract. He doesn't even try to tackle running backs anymore and gets burned on a regular basis by wide receivers. He can blame the ACL tear all he wants but he looks like a different player. We don't need anybody like that on the team.

And he may have led the league in interceptions but he gave up lots of big plays as well. I was in favor of not paying him and turns out it would have been the right move.

It only makes sense to trade Martin if you're trying to get out from under his contract.

Tyron hadn't played a full year since like 2015. Martin holding out isn't some huge scourge people try to make it to be. Why in the world would anyone begrudge a guy trying to get paid especially from a crap owner like Jerry?

If I were in the same boat, I'd absolutely hold out on Jerry. He has continually failed this organization so I'd make sure I at least get paid my max working for a crap GM.

Most teams have avoided him due to the other starting corner. Do you forget that he had 10 plus interceptions 2 years ago?
I didn’t forget, but the 2021 season wasn’t two years ago and it was in a completely different scheme, and I’d wager that more than half of them were playing from ahead once Quinn’s rush was unleashed.

Hey I’m not saying he stinks, I’m just trying to figure a way to add picks and deal from a strength to help out a severe weakness.

I’m all for keeping him and fixing the DL through FA, but they aren’t going to do it, nor will they deal Diggs.

Someone else just decided to start an entire thread on it. I wouldn’t say I’m that into doing it, and it’s as about as moot as can be.

difference of opinion. they made him the highest paid guard with little pushback or haggling. and he held out on that deal and then played poorly. left a bad taste in my mouth.

Let’s see how he plays when Bland finally comes back, but if they don’t fix their run defense, it won’t matter

This article makes a good argument why now is a good time to trade 9 time All Pro and Future 1st Ballot Hall Of Fame Right Guard, Zack Martin...

What say you?
If Martin wants a trade you give it to him.

You, however, do not go shopping a guy who has had a Hall of Fame career with you. Do you even understand how disruptive that is for folks with families? You just don't treat vet leaders like that.

He played well in 2023, granted not at the elite level when he was dominating the all pro team. He's now got a back issue that clearly is hampering him.

Not interested in getting a conditional 6th rounder for a future HOF. Just let Zack finish his career as a Cowboy.

It would be surreal to see him right next to Tyron in a Jets uniform.

Doesn't matter what we or the Cowboys want.

It's the same old story - teams won't trade for our players because they know if they just sit on their hands for a year and we'll release the player despite the cap hit, and teams can just pick him up as a free agent.

Too bad (among other things) Jerry doesn't realize he has zero friends in the NFL, be it owners or the commissioner, they love watching our Cowboys flounder...

No! They must complete the cycle of yet another wasted talent. It’s what they do best.

Long gone are the days of trading away players (i.e. Hershel Walker, Tyreek Hill - Chefs) while there’s value to gain premium draft capital.

Very taboo in these parts.

That’s what I mean. I’d try to deal from a strength and fix a weakness, but I don’t at all think the powers that be value interior defense so it’ll never happen.
