Should we go after AP (A. Peterson)?

Since it apppears we are not building for the future, and want to win now, should we go after AD? Would a real threat at RB open up the game for Romo to take us to the next level?

I'm thinking if Minnesota is ready to cash in with him, Jerry should do whatever he can to get him.

The Cowboys have much more pressing need than a RB who is going to ask for lot of money. D-Line should be priority for upgrade.

No. Nowadays you can get by with a durable every down back and backup along with a specialty back. These are mid and last day picks IMO. Not saying a special back doesn't come along now and then as they obviously do. Just hard to hit on the right guy.

You don't win championships in today's game with a runningback, so I would say no. You need a solid runningback at a reasonable price, not a monster back that has a huge salary. We lucked out on not having a guy like Chris Johnson, who would have commanded a monster salary, here. It leaves us room to invest elsewhere.

I'd love me some AP, just cause he's AP, probably the most phenomenal individual player to watch in this league...

The assets it would cost to get him, could be used to make this defense elite. He's THAT good and would require THAT much.

I would love to have ad but it would cost a fortune and a lot of draft picks.

You think? I don't think anyone would give up a kings ransom for him.

Would you give them a 1 and a following years 2 for him?

Like the Vikings would even think about trading Peterson. Seriously, he is the only player on that team fans are paying money to buy a ticket to see. Take Peterson away and that stadium would look empty. The fans would revolt.

Having said that, it probably is in the best long term interest of the Vikings to look to trade him. That is one bad team. Didn't they just have 3 first round picks? Floyd, Rhodes and Patterson all in one year and the team is abysmal. They really need a QB. I think Oregon QB Mariota would be just what they need.

If we go after a star let it be in an area of need. I know JJ said he doesn't want to give up a high pick on a Dlinemen, but he needs to reconsider it. A "DT" would really help us!

I wouldn't. He'll be 29 when next season starts. Very few running backs are able to maintain their production past age 30. If I wanted a stud RB and really wanted to pay a big price (which I don't) I'd just take those picks and invest in a younger one in the draft.

I can not imagine us doing something any more stupid then this. No way to do this with the cap we have and no good reason to go after a back. If we are going to wreck our future, we might as we do it for an impact DT or DE IMO. Maybe a lights out Safety.

I would not give up 2 or 3 top picks even for DL or safety

Instead of AD's. I would be going after DE's, DB's, SS's, FS's, LB's and DT's.

Nor would I but the statement was, "If we are going to wreck our future"............

Obviously, like you, I do not advocate doing something so foolish.

Yep, to get a player of Peterson caliber would be very costly and in the end that still may not get you that 1 SB in the meantime you lessen your chance in future years. Cowboys draft has been looking better just stay the course

Long version is "NO".
