I'd really like to see more out a guy that barely made the roster last year if I'm going to have him as the only depth behind a starter. Given when he did play, he certainly made the most of it, but he doesn't have the experience you'd ideally like in that position. He may very well be, but I just wouldn't feel too comfortable given what little I've seen from him.

I don't like the idea of taking a third for a guy we spent a second on two years before...especially when he's proven to be a good player. I doubt we'd get more for him though.

I actually root for Fasano to do well, but for several reasons it hasn't happened.

I think he had a few strikes against him from the beginning:

He was a draft choice that had people scratching their heads - why draft a TE in Round 2 when you've got Witten?

Soon after he was drafted, the team scrapped its' plans to run a predominantly two TE set.

The expectations of where he was drafted. The guy he's backing up was a third rounder himself.

It looks to me like Romo for whatever reason, doesn't have much confidence in Fasano, and that key late season drop probably didn't do much to improve that.

I wasn't happy about using the 2nd rounder on a backup TE when it happened, and if the team could recoup a 3rd I'd be all for it.

And Fasano could probably get a better opportunity elsewhere too.

But I was very impressed with Curtis in the opportunities he got. He seemed to always make the play and his blocking looked very good as well.

I would try to re-up with Curtis and trade Fasano if I could.

I'm feeling ya there.

If we were to trade Fasano, I'd take it more as a sign that they really think Curtis is a player rather than they think Fasano isn't. I think Hos' trade scenario is very doable, and would (if the coaches think Curtis can be the guy) be beneficial to both teams and the player. He'd probably be an immediate starter in Miami.

If we trade for pacman, it'd be nice to recoup that pic with another one...preferably an earlier one.

Jerry: "How does our 6th rounder for Pacman sound?"
Titans: "Well, that's the only offer we've received. We'll take..."
Jerry: "Ok, how about a 5th and Ayodele."

P.S. I'm sure PacMan is headed over to see Ms. Christy Christina after his radio interview.

The Pacman stories

It seems many of you are up in arms about our lack of Adam Jones' rumors.

Let's break down the stories that are out there:

Pacman took a tour of the new stadium with Cowboys' officials from NFL Network. Checked it out with people who should know and was told it was false. If Pacman took a tour, then the Cowboys would have tampered with a player under contract with another team. They do not have permission from the Titans to talk with Jones. Given that San Francisco was caught tampering with Lance Briggs and it cost them a fifth-rounder and a flip-flop of third rounders with Chicago, I know the Cowboys would not have been so blatant.

The other story from SI.com has the Cowboys offering a seventh round pick and a player to the Titans for Pacman. Checked that out with people, too. They said it's not true.

I thought we received permission over a week ago....is Archer THAT far behind, or am I wrong here?

Don't feed it.

It's funny because I can picture Jerry doing that.

I like Jerry, but I also like to laugh at him.

Nobody wants to win more than him, but watching him try to achieve that goal is sometimes like watching a chimp try to peel a fake banana.

Was it Clarence Hill who once said that in the picture of dogs playing poker, Jerry is the one with his tail wagging?

Throw in Ayodele just for the heck of it when you're bidding against yourself? Yeah, that's smart ... let's just throw away experienced starting caliber depth for the heck of it because we signed a 34 year old player with a history of concussions.

I hear ya, i don't disagree, but it's the creator of said joke, not the joke itself, that should be starved. :D

Gotta be Akin, if so good call by Hos, and why in the world would Dallas want to make it a 1 year deal? So he can stay out of trouble for a year and then become a free agent and want a big contract. I'm pretty sure Jerry will either make him play out his rookie deal or sign a new 2 year deal similar to Tanks with minimal salaries + incentives.

no way we will give up Aikin especially when we initially offered only a seventh round pick. maybe a backup cb on our rooster ?

second you make a good point. a one year deals makes no sense at all IMO. only if we think about not to resing one of our starting CBs - yes, beat me to death but i think about TNEW. with ware, canty, Barber & Hamlin in queue we have to make a decission about TNEW. we can't pay them all. if pacman pans out this coming season we maybe get a great CB cheap for the coming years. maybe we are also lucky in the draft and we don't really have a need for TNEW who will coimmand alot of money we wont give him!

How is giving up a starter more than fair? If Akin loses his spot as a starter, he would still be valuable as a backup due to all his experience in the regular defense.

Burnett or Carp or one of the backup DL would make more sense.

hell no...akin made it clear he doesn't want to be a back up, besides Burnett has more skills and upside....get rid of akin...laterrrr

Hmmm....so how's Troy Smith doing these days anyway?

;)

...and Fasano IS better than Curtis. I like Curtis, don't get me wrong, but he isn't the all around player that Fasano is. He's got superior athleticism, but that's about it. Sometimes I think Crumpler's success has blinded people to think that all TE's should be in the "ex-b-ball player" mold....when in reality, they should be in the "football player" mold. Fasano is a football player.

Having said that, I think that if we were to lose Witten for an extended period we'd be just fine with Fasano filling in. There would clearly be some drop off, but not much. Without Fasano, I'd still feel somewhat secure with Curtis there, but considerably less.

Our TE depth is outstanding, and it costs peanuts. We should try to keep it that way.

Don't care what Smith's doing these days...I've always said I love them at Ohio St but after that I could care less unless they play for the Cowboys.

Now if you would have said how is Carpenter doing these days...:p:

Very aptly describes our fake GM. :blind:

reading the topic title my first thought was carpenter then ayodele. carpenter makes more sense because i really doubt the titans want ayodele although im sure the cowboys explored it being him...
