Can't wait until Manziel is picked in the top 5...then this will stop...unfornutanely, we will hear about this crap for over another week.
Jerry is probably loving it....even if he's not interested in slecting Manziel, it keeps the boys in the spotlight. not that they need any help.

Sounds more like somebody is getting played. If the Cowboys wanted him that bad they wouldn't be telling everone about it. Surest way for someone else to go after him first.

Yep....

It has nothing to do with any of that. It's all about the marketing. Jerry see's nothing but $$ signs in signing Joh$$y Manziel.

I don't know about anyone else, but if they drafted him, the last thing I would buy, is a Manziel jersey.

Good point. Personally, I haven't bought any Cowboy merchandise or tickets in over 3 years. My little way of protesting against Jerry the GM's performances of the past.

Same with me, 2010 was the last time I bought something.

Take it for what it´s worth, although most would not like it, I´d love it :)
Saying that, I doubt it happens.

Johnny Manziel has been one of the favorites in the discussion of what the Houston Texans will do with the No. 1 overall NFL Draft pick.

But the 2012 Heisman Trophy winner might end up with the other team in Texas.

According to a report by ESPNCleveland.com, CBS Sports NFL announcer Jim Nantz says he has heard that the Cowboys will do whatever it takes to bring Johnny Football to Dallas.

"I've heard this rumor for a month -- the Cowboys will figure out a way to get Manziel," Nantz told ESPNCleveland.com. "Wherever Manziel goes, there is going to be more clamoring about Johnny Manziel than there would be about Blake Bortles going No. 1 or (Jadeveon) Clowney going No. 1, or anyone else. This is a guy that there's just a tremendous interest in everything he does."

Wow, Jim Nantz has heard the rumor that everyone else has been hearing for months, and that's the basis for a story. Whoopdee freakin' do.

Coy not directed at you but I don't care how much we covet him going from 16-2 would take at LEAST two number 1's and probably two more picks if you look at RG III's going rate and they only moved a few spots.

But even if - If we did that does anybody have confidence in the organization to maximize our remaining picks left over the next three years to make us competitive?

We would be must see TV I get that but the goal isn't a ratings grab its a Super Bowl...

Or is it.

I think Jerry Jones has already answered this question.

Jeff Sullivan of the Cowboys' website was told the team will "absolutely no(t)" draft Texas A&M QB Johnny Manziel.

The Manziel-to-Dallas idea has generated pre-draft noise in recent weeks, mostly because it's fun to imagine, but it's not happening. The Cowboys would absorb a nearly $30 million cap penalty to part with Tony Romo in 2014, and a $9.6 million penalty to move on from Romo next offseason. "For the record, I'm not guessing on the Cowboys not drafting Manziel," Sullivan tweeted. "I was told absolutely no by the highest of authorities." For better or worse, Dallas is stuck with Romo for at least two more years, and they won't be using their first-round pick to draft a guy who'll be riding the bench.

Dallas Cowboys will ‘figure out a way’ to get Johnny Manziel, per report

With the 2014 NFL draft just 10 days away, one of the more intriguing storylines to follow is theDallas Cowboys’ growing interest in Johnny Football. Jerry Jones has reportedly been intrigued by the possibility of adding Johnny Manziel to the roster, and CBS analyst Jim Nantz recently passed along a rumor that strongly links the two sides.

If Nantz’s comments are to be believed, the Cowboys will be doing everything in their power to come away from Day 1 of the draft with Manziel tabbed as their quarterback of the future.

“I can say this, he’s going to be the guy everyone wants to see. I’ve heard this rumor for a month — the Cowboys will figure out a way to get Manziel,” Nantz said via ESPN Cleveland. “Wherever Manziel goes, there is going to be more clamoring about Johnny Manziel than there would be about Blake Bortles going No. 1 or [Jadeveon] Clowney going No. 1, or anyone else. This is a guy that there’s just a tremendous interest in everything he does.”

The Cowboys are always one of the most talked about teams in the league, and selecting Manziel would certainly keep the team in the headlines.

Whether or not the Cowboys will make a trade up from the No. 16 spot to make Manziel their first-round pick remains to be seen, but it will be something worth watching as the draft draws closer.

Per Sports Illustrated

All I can say is WOW!

A high-round quarterback selection will not be coming in under the expectation of competing with Romo. The expection will be that a high draft pick will come in and supplant Romo.

Romo is a franchise quarterback. First-round quarterback selections are projected as practically immediate starting, franchise quarterbacks. Current teams (including those headed by guys named Jerry) do not bring in a projected franchise quarterback to replace a entrenched franchise quarterback unless the elder quarterback is about to receive the proverbial boot. Romo's not about to get thrown to the curb unless there is an issue which threatens his ability to play NFL level football in the here and now. The only threat preceived pertains to Romo's back.

Now, before the "Hey! What about Aaron "Discount Double-Check" Rodgers?" gets tossed in, it should be noted that Green Bay was deceived by Brett Favre into believing he was going to retire sooner rather than later. Favre waffling caused Rodgers to remain on the sidelines for as long as he did. Tony Romo does not carry the clout that Favre had in Green Bay. His understandable $100 million supply versus demand contract will not insulate him from being the victim of an invested upgrade at the position. If, for example, Johnny Manziel gets tabbed, Romo's looking at a much shorter season in 2014 than he expects... and not because of an unfortunate injury. Jones will expect him to start in the short-term and he would deal with the ramifications of Romo's humongous contract afterwards. JMO.

I just don't see how Jerry can use a first round pick on a QB when Romo has $60+ million guaranteed on his contract.

Either Manzel will waste away his entire rookie contract on the bench or we are going to have the highest paid backup QB in NFL history. And if we try to trade Romo, all that guaranteed money accelerates into the current year salary cap.

They will NOT be getting any money from me until they prove they can run this organisation in the way it should be run.

Nor will my bookies when it comes to them. No way.

I strognly believe we should draft johnny Manziel, if he's there. I rememeber when the 49ners traded for steve young and joe Montana went on to have the greatest season of his illustrious career. I also believe Tony Romo is too comfortable in the postion that he is in and he needs that extra push to light a fire under him. He also just turned 34 coming off a secound back procedure. Troy "the great" Aikman retired at 35, we're one vicious hit away to being back to searching for that franchise QB, that took us a decade to find. Why not take a gamble on Johnny Football to prevent us from being in that predicament again.
