SI: "His absence could wound this club more deeply than it realizes."

All this talk of Murray being offered 7-9 million a year should scare the Cowboys FO away.

He was clearly a different back the last 5-6 games of the season. Completely worn down.

Based on previous RB performances similar to Murray, including Murray's injury history, I'm willing to bet he won't make it through a whole 16 game season again, and will never regain the form he had at the beginning of the 2014 season.

5.5/6 million per year with sean lee type incentives is what a smart FO would stick to.

Not to mention he FAR exceeded any previous performance he had in his NFL career..... on his contract year.

While mathematically you are correct, the front office has decreed they will be efficient in FA./ Meaning they will not break the bank on their purchases, but improve the team.

Your assessment implies that if Muray gets 7 a year, they can do nothing on defense.

1st, Murray may not command 7 a year unless Oakland goers berserk. So Dallas may be in the hunt because of the way things are unfolding. Shady McCoy being traded will have a hand in how this plays out.

2nd even at 7 a year, the team has the money to sign Murray and be judicious with the defense. Improving from 18th, as stated by some here to 13th or 11th may be reachable with no name brands on defense.

You and the others who believe in your theory act as if things are cast in stone. I have no clue where Murray will play next year. But I do know Dallas can keep him and still sign their guys and bolsters the defense enough to give it teeth.

Then allow the offense to do what they do and keep the ball away from the other team, score points, and keep the pressure on.

If D Law can play at the level he showed during the playoffs we will already be better. Big IF is that Lee stays healthy, we automatically should improve.

They can do less. Period. This year and going forward.

At some point we need better guys than the Mincey's and TMcClain's on the roster if we are going to consistently compete on defense. And that costs money - money that can easily be found by not signing a non-elite RB with elite RB dollars.

125 against GB

That aspect seems to be pushed aside a great deal. I've been following this game for a very long time and have never seen that in the FA era wherew the head coach andf QB go to sporting events with a FA RB.

Obligatory :p

thank you, pal. he just want to make me cry. but the fact remain that murray led the nfl, we cant wait to get rid of him and for me the world is turned upside down and now i am worried that the australians will fall off the earth.

I know...
I know.

the only thing i cut off is meine hair. I tell the barber: Make me look like Aldo Ray!

Or the whole season if Peterson doesn't work out.

We'll be alright.

As good as Murray is he has tunnel vision and fumbles.

We'd miss him in short yardage and goal line situations for sure if his successor can't do that. If they could then Murray is no big loss.

I value pass protection.

I'm not discounting him, but the fact is that 1,023 of Murray's yards came before he was ever touched.

If that doesn't say offensive line, I don't know what does.

What's the comparative here to the other top RBs? Because that means he still got 800 yards AFTER getting touched. In other words, following the logic here, he could be hit at the line of scrimmage EVERY SINGLE PLAY and still gain over 800 yards. Which is pretty solid.

Opposing def's know Murray will get the tough yards but lacks home run speed...question? Would a rb with true homerun speed force defenses to bring both safeties up a force them to pick their poison even more....open up pass game?

As do I.. Im not going to worry about it much unless a rookie is the starter. If that is the case then we'll figure it out some other way. It's not a big deal.

Also, as good as Murray is at blocking he does struggle at identifying who to pick up sometimes.

I can tell you what answer your about to get.:)

Murray is NOT the Dallas Cowboys. If he leaves, we will move on without him.
We've done it with every other Cowboy. We'll do it with him.

The exception to that being . . . Dez?

The Murray disdain. And just the other day we rewarded Beasely . . . is there something goink on I am not aware off? Is there a Walmart parking lot video on Murray or something? Did Murray touch one of Jerra's girl friends? (they are girls and they are friends).
Why the antimosity toward Murray?

Yup one play cost us a championship. Can't argue that.

No, but Dean Blandino and the blunder at the end of the half probably cost us a Super Bowl appearance.

With Demarco, the Cowboys should be weary of handing out too much money to an injury prone player that plays a position with the shortest life span. But who knows, I'm probably a pessimist after this much heart break season after season.

December 2014 says yes, absolutely. Because if they don't and he still peels off 5 yards a run then who cares whether he has homerun speed.

I'm tired of holding my breath every time Murray carries the football. Just move on Jerry and save the money for the defense.
