SI: Top 10 Biggest Hitters in NFL

Anybody can have a bad game. You look at the Giants game last year and Brandon James. He made Roy look like a punk in that game. Seriously, he made Roy look like he didn't want any. I'm not going to say Roy isn't a great player based off that one performance though. To me, the body of work of time says more then just the one isolated game. JMO
true but than again brandon jacobs is a lb/de playing rb. jacobs is like 6'4 265 which is alot to handle running at you

So the top 3 biggest hitters in the NFL are in the NFC East. If you agree with the list.

I would have said Dawkins is the hardest hitting a few years ago, but now I have to go with Taylor.

Best safety in the NFL?.....I'd probably go with Ed Reed

( puts head down in shame )

Ed Reed is a great safety. Dawkins is the best safety IMO. Taylor, well, here's the number 1 hitter in the NFL getting walked on by Greg Jones.

As for future discussions on this subject matter, stay tuned. There may be some reshuffling of the numbers in a season or two.

I can't believe this discussion is going on again.

I thought we worked this completely subjective and unsolvable issue out last year.

Ok, now come into present day. Dawkins was a great safety for a long time. He is now older and has lost a step. He is 12 days older than I am!

You get paid to hit. 165, 265 and everything in between. If your going to be the A #1, you gotta earn your pay. Roy should have laid wood on him but he didn't. This year is another year. I hope that if given the opportunity, Roy takes it next time it presents itself.

Having said that, my original point still stands. Anybody can look bad in one game. Doesn't make them any less of a player. Just means they had a bad game.

Well, if you can stick like Dawkins, then I'll find a spot for you on the list. Dawkins can still bring it. I understand that his days are running out but he can still hit.

He isn't the player he used to be. His numbers are still there, but he misses plays he used to make. He is a step slower and can't turn with the ball the way he used too. His numbers come down to having more opportunities. His tackles shot up last year higher than they ever have been in his entire career. Thats not because he is better now than he ever was, it's because that defense isn't what it used to be. He is part of that.

I would agree that his skills are on the decline but that doesn't mean he still can't get it done. Means he's not the best defensive player in the NFL anymore. At one time, I believe he was. Now, he's just very good. I honestly hope you are correct in your assesment of him. I hope he has declined to the point of not being able to be effective. I'm tired of seeing him hurt us on defense.

...and you've thusly proven you are, indeed, ********.

1. Dawkins
2. Williams
3. Taylor

...but the biggest difference between them is that the first two can actually play football.

As much as i love dawkins, Brandon jacobs should be illegal....he worked my boy in the playoffs last year....
