It wasn't a mistake. He made the play and got the first down.

Just a technicality kept him from getting the 1st down due to giving himself up. And 99.9% of the time we pick up the first down, not fumble a snap. That was just a weird set of events.
it was a mistake and he didn't get the first down..... .01% can lose the game

Strangely enough, I thought it was a dumb challenge because I thought the Vikings would have been better served with us having a fresh set of downs and then having 2 timeouts and the 2 minute warning to make one last attempt at a stop. This was under the assumption that we would easily pick up the yard, as we've done all season in those situations. I guess I should have known better.

I'm more concerned with him holding the ball too long in the pocket. He has to understand that you don't have 7 seconds to throw the ball. I know our offensive line is great, but he has to be more decisive about getting the ball out. It is really hard to criticize him on this because he is a rookie, but he certainly isn't playing like one! :)
I would rather Dak hang in the pocket and go through all his reads than force a pass that shouldn't be thrown.

Also, most of the games we've played in, Dak has had 7 seconds to throw the ball...we just played one of the best pass rushing units in football.

He should have slid head first, but whatever.

I'm burning up on that play because my wife says who cares, they are going to get the first down, of course ! I say how you need to get the first down and end the game...I pause the dvr and say they can have a bad exchange, fumble, penalty, lots can happen...you need to end it right there.....AND THEN IT DOES....I was so not pleased...

Dak needs to run through the sticks and convert that third down, it ends the game....staying in bounds is irrelevant when you don't convert...I don't remember seeing s defender ready to lay him out...regardless...he needs to get past the sticks...must say I was quite disappointed in that play...

If you are saying he needed to stay upright and run through the sticks he most likely gets knocked out of bounds stopping the clock. That would not have ended the game.

Agree to disagree...when you have a chance to end the game....u dont slide....get past the sticks, choke them out...cuz who knows what third down may bring....

I did not see a need for him to cut it that close - better to go for another yard or two and keep the refs out of it....

I'd rather he miss it by a yard than get creamed. As for situational awareness, that was shown by making sure he stayed in bounds.

Dak made a few mistakes last night. Not getting the first there to ice the game, the fumbled snap the next play(who was at fault is debatable), taking a sack right before half at almost the 50, the fumble... he took some other sacks he shouldn't have as well. Not a good night for him

It wasn't really irrelevent, he forced them to burn a time out by staying in. Admittedly, it didn't end up having a bearing on the outcome but it certainly could have. But your right, getting the first down should have been priority 1.

Yeah, that run didn't concern me. He, and we all, thought he had picked up enough for the first down.
I remember a run he had on Thanksgiving Day where he did the same thing. I thought he slid too early and didn't pick up the 1st down, but the official marked the ball at the first down marker. Washington didn't challenge, but I think they would have won that challenge had they tried.

I alluded to this in another post/thread...I would potentially theorize that he appears more prone to doing that when he connects with Dez deep in the early stages of a game (he did that last night and had a number of similar moments in the Philly game). He's best when he's quick and decisive with Cole and Witt also being heavily involved.

I honestly can't muster any disgust or disappointment in Prescott's play there. I think complaining about it is pretty absurd, frankly.
Its called a discussion....which is a debate of different points of view...if you've ever played sports you would understand the need to end it right there, which was reinforced by the next play...
