The franchise spent a 1st round pick on him. Something tells me they gave him opportunities.

55 games, and over 550 carries...

Duckett will be used in short yardage and goal-line situations.

That's it.

:)

Think Gerald Riggs of 1991.
That is the same thing Atlanta thought.

Dude,
Duckett is not what you think. Most of the TDs were after Dunn got the ball on the one yard line or close to the goal line. Dunn is the man, but duckett, who is not an every down back, is the man. That's bananas...

I agree, he is not going to replace CP. That's not why he was acquired. It has been so long since the Skins have had a guy to punch it in and get 3rd and 2 with ease. This relieves those worries. He just made the Skins a more complete team.

Try all you like, you can't justify what the Skins gave up for Duckett. Bad move period!

The Skins idiocy will never end.

Duckett was going to be cut. He was 3rd team. They gave up a 3rd rounder.

How sad.

Duckett flat sucked. Quite simply he is a short yardage back and nothing more. He averaged just over 3 yards per carry last season on a great rushing team. Betts > Duckett.

Duckett ought to be at home in a power rushing offense. I think he's a good pickup for the skins - he adds another dimension - and makes them better, at least marginally.

I think the funniest thing I heard on this was on NFL Sirius from a caller this morning.

Some fan of another team called in and said "You build through the draft, the Skins are falling apart, they have no idea what they're doing"

the next caller said "Some teams have tried building through the draft and haven't sniffed a playoff win in 10 years"

So, its 12 one way, half a dozen the other.

personally, I'm not crazy about the trade. But, Gibbs seemed to have gotten it together last year in his 2nd season back. So, I gotta just wait and see.

So now the Commanders are w/o their 2nd and 3rd round picks for next year. Too funny.

I feel Joe Gibbs still think it is 1987,,,LOL,,,

But Duckett is free agent next year, so do they sign him for starters money?...with Clinton also there?

I said it above. I'm not too keen on this. Maybe there is another trade in the works for Betts.

So, I just don't know. Sure does seem like its a now or never approach.

But, I blasted the Coles/Moss trade like most people last year. That turned out ok.

I believe the saying you're looking for is six of one, half a dozen of the other, but you're no Norman Einstein, eh?

Thats all true indeed.

The catch here is once again you have 1 first day draft pick and the market for backup RBs is not all that rich right now. Duckett is a one trick pony. He's a guy I knew would be a bust coming out of MSU. I still feel he'd be a better LB than RB. He shows little vision and takes a while to get up to speed.

Not just that but everyone grants that Portis is a top 10 RB.

Taking him off the field on 3rd and 2 is a blessing to any team they play. Portis is a guy who will have 8 nondescript carries than rip off a 30 yarder that turns field position. You don't wanan limit a guy like that's carries. He was at his best in higher carry games not in 10 to 15 carry games.

Is Betts better than Duckett? I believe so but even if he isn't Betts is cheaper, knows the offense and wouldn't cost a draft pick.

Its hard not to call this a stupid football move imho.

I will say that Gibbs made the absolute most of Moss and perhaps he has a plan in place but it seems quite odd on the football front.

Doesn't this mean that we now get to root for another Cowboys v. Broncos Superbowl and an 0-16 season for the Commanders? Without their #2, the Commanders could go 0-16 and they would get the 31st and 95th picks (more or less)...right?

You gotta follow that dream...

Think Gerald Riggs of 1991.
You think Duckett will get you double digit TDs? Come on man you can't be that naive. This isn't 1991. You either gave up 2 future players for him, or you gave up one player for sure and moved down in the draft potentially getting a lesser player there. All for a guy who may not play for you more than 1 year. Meanwhile the 2 draft picks could give you many years of service.

You like this deal?

Please don't give me that proven players > draft picks math. Be honest, if it is such a better math equation why haven't you solved the formula and won it all. Don't give me this year could be the year. If it was that superior wouldn't the results be evident already?

How otherwise intelligent people can swallow that hogwash is beyond me.

I live in Atlanta, and Duckett is not what you think. He's always hurt and he tiptoe through the hole. Bad move for the skins IMHO.

Bad move, huh? Here, take a look at this video and tell me where he "tiptoes" through the hole. For a big boy he's got some speed to go along with the power.

If you are going to make assinine comments like you did atleast back it up with some proof.

Fickle fans like you kill me. It's not just 'boys fans either. I thought that was an amazing catch that Glenn made the other night and of course some 'skins fans claimed it to be offensive pass intereference. Yeah, okay.

I think there may be more to the Portis injury than the public knows at this point. Still, Duckett doesn't seem the logical choice to fill Portis role.

Perhaps. But I would think that the public realizes that shoulder injuries to RB's are extremely serious. I'm not remotely well schooled in injuries and health issues, but even I know that the injury that Portis suffered is very likely to re-occur.

Duckett's a different runner than Portis is, makes me wonder if Gibbs is going to go back to the counter trey.

Complete? In other words you're telling me I value Portis more than you do. Because I'll tell you what, there is not a scenario I can think of where I'd prefer Portis on the sidelines than on the field. Please don't think I'm bashing this move just because your team did it. By all means do a search ont he name Duckett and look for comments made be me before this deal. I wouldn't have given a 3rd rounder for him. I doubt I'd have even given a 4th. Much less both. He's washed up and was never that good to begin with. Bad trade for the Skins. More complete my butt.

Glenn did make an amazing catch, but he DID have his hands all over the defenders face mask.

So maybe once in awhile a skins fan gets something right.:D

He's worth 2 draft picks because of one play that happened in the past?

Prediction...by year's end Skins fans will be sick of him.
