If you remember much about those Rams teams they had a fairly solid defense. They had a win tight games against Tampa Bay in the playoffs and came up big against the Titans to win a championship.

I've lost track how many times I've watched this offense over the past 2 years and have thought, "Wow, this is some offense!"

I've never had that thought a single time about this defense-- a least not in a positive light.

The last time I remember saying that about the defense was the beginning of the Green Bay game and the Colts game from a couple of years ago.

The more points the offense scores, the more one dimensional the opposing offense has to be.


One dimensional offenses are easier to defend.


That's how it helps the defense.

And looking back at all the "Super Offenses" over the last 30 years...

The Chargers of the early 80's
The Bills of the early 90's
The Dolphins of the middle 80's
The Vikings of the late 90's
The Ram's at the turn of the Century
The Pat's last year...

Sounds like they are just going to try and outscore the other team.

One thing to consider if this offense starts humming again in the passing game is, it may mean our D is on the field even more and getting shorter rests between possessions.

What it means is no safety in the box so more room for Barber and longer time consuming drives so yes this will help the defense.

4 good games out of 6 in the NFL where every rule is offensive driven is not bad.

Plus the players are already in place. Its just a matter of doing it.

You conveniently left out the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's and they won 3 Super Bowls.

With this offense, we should have no problems moving the ball, thus we should always be ahead when it comes to the battle of field position.

If we give the other offense the ball at the 40 or 50 they are more likely to score. If we give them the ball at their own 15 to 20, it should help the defense tremendously.

You conveniently left out the Dallas Cowboys of the 90's and they won 3 Super Bowls.

Our defenses in that era were very underrated quality defenses. Conversely, we were not exactly full of firepower. We didn't go around scoring 30-40 points each Sunday with Aikman throwing 300 yards a week. We ground out wins with a running game and solid defense intermixed with a big play here or there.
