So What Do Yall Think Goodell Is Going To Do???

It gets kind of tiring hearing "everyone is doing, therefore it's ok..." rationalization when they're trying to support someone or an organization because it's so vacuous.

What the Pats did was against the rules. They were in violation and they got caught. They've been suspected of it before, other teams have complained about it, but they still flaunted the rule, and now they have to suffer the consequences.

The fact is the Pats used a competitive advantage that has been deemed illegal. Therefore, this puts a cloud of doubt surrounding the legitimacy of their victories and championships depending upon how far back it goes, as well as this idea that they are a class organization.

This is so much more egregious than anything that Wade Wilson did, or what a player did outside of the league because it puts the league's integrity into question. And once people start questioning the latter, you're in trouble.

I don;t think this is "egregious" when compared to off field criminal misconduct. Teams use signs, and change them, to hide the play/formation they are calling. Why shouldn't a team be allowed to try to steal them? As far as the league's integrity, I would be disappointed if our coaching staff didn;t try to steal the signs.

This ain't dog fighting or shooting up a strip club.

Sure, it is agasint the rules, but so is holding on the line. Let's put the violation in perspective. Belichick may, or may not, have been involved. He is dumb for using a camera to steal the signs if it was him.

But think about it. Why didn;t the ruels committee approve headsets for the defense? Only logical reason I can see is because the majority ot the teams steal signs. If Goodell wants to end sign stealing, why not approve the headsets?

As far as Wade Wilson, I agree Goodell went overboard. But two wrongs don't make an airplane.

How many spies did the Jets have running around the stadium doing counter-intelligence? Everyone is reacting because it is the Pats. Like I say, if it was the Browns, would you want them to lose all their draft picks?

I am afraid if the word "integrity" has no meaning to you you won't get what the rest of us with integrity are trying to say... it really is as simple as this

you condone cheating...

we don't...

Wow, very nice - I like that.

He if they don't want to forfeit the game, then give both Pats #1's to the Jets. ;)

moral relativity. In other words there is no such thing as right or wrong.
That is where he is coming from.

Do you condone a lineman holding a DT to prevent a sack cheating? It is against the rules. What about a defensive player that calls out a snap count to draw the offesne into illegal procedure? How about a CB that gives a receiver a good shove down field? These are all forms of cheating, but they occur every game. In fact. most violations don;t get called. We have even seen referees waive off a flag because the penalty was away from the play.

I agree there should be a penalty. But where I disagree is what that penalty should be. I don;t see this as near as bad as steriods, yet everyone wants to see the Pats crushed for it. And I will say it again, it is only because it is the PAts and folks are jeolous of them. If the Browns had got caught, no one would say forfiet draft picks. That is our draft pick!

There is cheating in every NFL game. Any team that doesn't cheat a little won't be competitive. Put the cheating into perspective is all I ask. Penalize them 15 yards on the opening kickoff for the next 8 games. Deny them use of the QB's headset for 4 games. something along those lines.

Ask yourself this, with all your moral superiority: Ever look at anyone's paper during a school test? You confuse arrogance for integrity.

Not only that, but how about we the cowboys go ahead and cheat our way to a couple of more super bowls. It's wrong, you can easily get an advantage if you find a way to figure out a teams plays being called - I think you can cheat your way all the way to a super bowl.

If we were both up for a job, I cheated to get the job and you lose out on a hundred grand a year, i'm pretty sure you'd be happy about it. My point is, if you're winning games by knowing other teams calls instead of just out smarting them and out dualing them, you are a cheater and you don't deserve the hundreds of millions in commercials/extra playoff tickets sold, etc. JMO

Anyone hear Jeff Fisher? "If they are in fact found guilty of doing it, then we are all confident — the rest of the member clubs are confident — that the league will take punitive action against them," Fisher said Wednesday. "There is no place for it. Everybody clearly understands the rules. The competition committee's responsibility is to protect the integrity of the game. The technology the way it is now, things can get out of hand in a matter of weeks if we don't protect the integrity of the game.''

He was intentionally putting public pressure on Goodell by giving those kind of comments to the media. You can bet the other clubs are letting Goodell know they want their pound of flesh.

Using hyperbole will not make your point. It is cheating, but so is offensive holding. I equate this infraction on about the same level as a corked bat in baseball.

Again, no one would really be upset it iwas the Raiders, because we won;t face them in the Super Bowl if we get there. No one would advocate the Browns losing all their picks next year, because we have one of them.

Sunday, before the Charger game, Roger will lay Belicheater across his knee and spank his bottom while the Nation Anthem is being played.

If the Browns lost their draft picks, we would not lose their first rounder since it now belongs to us, not the Browns.

If you think there is a bunch of controversy since it's the Pats, just imagine the media coverage if it were the Cowboys engaged in this behavior.

Goodell has painted himself in a corner here. The NFL Office sent out a memo about this very thing in the off season telling teams to cut the cheating. In addition, he just suspended Wade Wilson for 5 games for something that gives our team no competitive advantage, but referenced the fact that "coaches must be held to higher standard."

I think they should be punished very severely. First round pick and Belichik should be suspended.

That's exactly what you're NOT doing.

I honestly believe they should forfeit the game but the odds of that happening are about 10,000,000 to 1. When a player cheats its one thing, when the whole organization is cheating they dont deserve to get the win. You can say they would of won anyway, but if that were really true why were they cheating to begin with? Plus I feel the Jets should get something out of this they are the ones who got beat by the cheaters. Maybe a good compromise would be to give the Jets a draft pick from the Pats.

I have a feeling that they will lose a 3 round draft pick and Belichik will be suspended for 4 games.

I can't believe folks here! Michael Vick was innocent until proven guilty. Belichick should be suspended for 8 games? That wsa more than most wanted for Vick commiting felonies!

A felony for an off field incident is one thing cheating is something entirely different in my opinion. Vick gives the league a black eye, cheaters make people question the integrity and outcome of the game that is 10 times worse for the league then what 1 player did off the field.

BB completely disregarded Goodell's memo concerning videotaping other teams to gain unfair advantage so I believe Goodell will levy a serious penalty on Belichick and the Patriots. The punishment needs to be strong enough to send the message to other teams as well.

My guess is lose couple of first day draft picks, suspension of BB for 2-4 games, and a hefty fine of Pats organization. What I really like to see is forfeiture of a game against Jets but I don't think this will happen.

This is absolutely dead-on. Vick's pit bulls aren't helping the Pats know which defenses other teams are running.

The reality is that with parity in the league, the Pats alleged behavior is even more of an issue. Also, it is much harder to call and play defense than offense since defense is reactive. If a team is able to decipher another team's defensive calls, it provides a significant advantage to the offense, IMO.

sorry guys but what you all are suggestion has no teeth...

taking a pick or two...whooped dee doo...HELLO Free agency send me two players because you are the next beneficiaries of the cheat is right...

suspend Belli for 4 games...BWAHAHAHA:lmao2: Wade Wilson got 5 and a 100K for taking a legal yes it was legal (though banned for NFL PLAYERS) substance to help him with the quality of his LIFE and you all suggest 4 games for something that causes a competitive imbalance...please

this is a vagrant violation of NFL competition rules...

anything less than a year suspension for BB and anything less than a 5 year banned on all 1st round picks, plus a 10 million Salary cap reduction for 3 years is too leinent... that should be were the minimum sentence should start

Interesting... I wonder if there is any chance that there is some MAJOR consequences...

It is difficult to imagine that a Patriots employee would videotape the opposition's signals without the full knowledge and consent (if not under the direct order) of the Patriots head coach.

For me, it is difficult not to think of the Wade Wilson suspension when considering the sanctions for the Patriots.

Wade Wilson - QB coach - 5 games
Bill Bullicheat - HEAD coach - atleast one more game... atleast 6 games

and that may not even be fair... he is of a much higher rank as far as coaches go... he should get 8 games really
