Some Boise folks really think Kellen Moore can lead us

Heard too many questions about his arm to think he's likely an answer. You don't have to have a cannon but there is a minimum amount of arm you need to be successful in the NFL and there is a serious question as to whether or not he has that. I wouldn't be surprised to see him out there once they're formally eliminated but I don't expect him to do much because I'm guessing there's some of the route tree, at the NFL level, he just can't throw.

Who knows if he'll pan out. The knock on him is he's short for a QB. But the positives are he seems to be accurate, makes good decisions, and gets rid of the ball quick.

Was the knock on drew brees too

Moore is 6-0, 200, Brees is 6-0, 209
Romo is 6-2, 230

Brees may be the ultimate exception. People want to compare and bring up Brees, Flutie all the time to justify shorter QB's.
I do not like the shorter QB's. However, I am ready to see what Moore can do. Maybe he can be one of these exceptions. Time to find out and get him on the field.

I am a Boise folk. I watched every home game of Moore's his last 2 years in college in person. And every away game on TV. His measurables are awful. Below average arm. Slow feet. Short for a pro QB. Slight build. That being said, he has "it." He ran a very complex, multi set offense in college. And was a coach to the 10 other players on the field. He can read a defense as quick as anyone. Son of a football coach. Is very accurate with the ball. And because he knows so quickly where to go with the ball, he throws with anticipation. In other words, he "throws his receivers open." His arm is strong enough, but will never be a "drive the deep out" thrower. To me, the most underrated facets of QB play are anticipation and accuracy. He is elite in those categories. I don't know if this is enough to make him a quality NFL QB, but if guys like Jeff Garcia can succeed in the pros (and actually make a pro bowl), so can Moore. And by the way, you don't get to be the winningest QB in COLLEGE FOOTBALL HISTORY without knowing how to play the position. Again, that does not make him a pro QB, but it is worth a shot.

Sounds exactly like Bernie Kosar and Brian Sipe for that matter. Both pretty successful. Sipe was the NFL MVP in 1980 at 6'1" and should've gone to a Super Bowl except for one if the worst play calls in history by his coach.

Of things that won't let Moore be successful his height is pretty far down on the list. If he can read defenses and can adjust to the speed of the game he can play in the NFL.

If he's worse than Weeden that's on us for even having him on the roster.

the football IQ is what separates the good ones from the bust weedone or cassel neither one can read a defense or see the field. with a qb most of it is in the mind brady no longer throws many long passes they don't run the ball much and they seem to be doing pretty good.

Hard to imagine him leading anything when you look at who will be leading him. Garrett and Jones will need to grow some stones and brains respectively before we can see just what Moore can lead us to. Other than more futility.

I'm sorry, but I'm not buying the "the coaching staff hasn't seen anything in practice" crud. Brandon Weeden was supposed a GREAT practice player, but when it came to gameday, he choked and crumbled under pressure. How do we know that Moore isn't a good practice player, but just steps up his game on Sundays?

Only one way to find out...

Is it fair to compare him to say, Chad Pennington? I know Chad was a little taller, but he didn't have a big arm at all.

Hell all that Cassell and Weeden were doing was dinking and dunking anyhow. Maybe Moore can make better reads and hit the dinks and dunks with moore accuracy and catch the receivers running in stride, best read etc...The most import first down is the 1st first down.

I don't believe it's because they think he can do anything.

I think it's because they know Cassel can't and if you're going to struggle, you may as well watch a hometown guy get a shot.

Oh, so you mean he is a bit like Russell Wilson? He should be cut immediately!

Who would have thought six months ago that on the Saturday before Christmas, the hottest take on this board would be that Kellen Moore should start.
