You really have no idea what we have tried or haven't tried.

you do? not trying to be as sarcastic as that sounds, but we all only really know what we've seen. maybe there's a lot going on behind the door, maybe not. but like all fans we tend to talk about the results 95% of the time and use the other 5% as an excuse for those results.

so far - we're a lesser team. could bentley have come this way - dunno. maybe not. but there's also hutch. did he want to go home also? and if we hear scuttlebutt and don't even try - that does bother me.

if we don't fix the line then we're all gonna be here at the end of the year whining away because the line let drew down and the most common excuse is "well who else was there???"

i'm tired of that excuse for our qb and i'm tired of it for our line. if we can't do a better job at finding GOOD (not adequate) players then the coaches need to visit the EXIT door and let's move on.

I don't condone the complacency, but if I may, present possible reasons for it? There is really only one, and that is the fact that this very same Oline, when healthy last year, protected Bledsoe well enough to be the NFC's top rated passer. It was also good enough, along with our stellar defensive play, to get us to 7-3, before all hell broke loose.

You mentioned to me earlier, you put stock in the continuity aspect as well. So, if they were that good when healthy last year, isn't it concievable that after a year of working together and an entire healthy offseason they could get significantly better? A yes or no answer would be appreciated - you either believe that can happen, or you don't.

If you answer yes, then I have to ask, "Why throw big dollars at a big name free agent?" Wouldn't the team be better served by stockpiling depth along the OL, while keeping the starting lineup in tact?

good points and well presented.

now - will they get better? if flo going down tanks the entire line - are we flo-dependant again? why would *1* player be the fall from grace we saw happen? to me it was *not* 1 player but the line just fell apart and yes, lack of working together COULD be that very reason.

or they just suck. that could do it too.

i'm in the camp that petitti *WILL* get better and that for all we saw last year he took more grief than he should have. yes drew, the guy came in quick - stop patting the freaking ball and get rid of it. team sport, they call it. you know your weak or new there, compensate.

i didn't see drew "compensate". then again after someone mentinoed it to me, i never saw someone on the OL help drew up after all the times he was sacked. if what you're saying is true then maybe the problems at line are deeper than the players or just overall talent/ability.

now - "entirely healthy". not too many teams do this and i have to question those that do as to their own realistic expectations. 1 man going down shouldn't bring the line with it, but that's the blame. i don't buy it i just think it's an excuse for other reasons behind the scenes you gotta pay attention to so while i know it's there, i don't pay enough attention to know what that would be. few do but in the end what do we know?

we had a bad line
his draft picks have not panned out and only the late round ones play.
parcells FA's on the line have been worse than his draft picks

in the end the line is the responsiblity of parcells and given his track record, i don't think he's gonna fix it w/o some luck and i don't like to plan for that *as a need* for success. if this line fell apart last year when 1 player went down it's no sign of hope the 1st FA we sign is a player off that line in gurode.

but thanks man - good convo, great ideas i've not thought about yet.

oh - and i throw the big $ cause if 1 player is going to be the cornerstone, make it a good one.
