I don’t know if Lance will be any good or not. There is a chance he just has something missing and he won’t ever make it. There is also a chance that he does make it because he definitely has good physical traits.
However, one thing that I won’t do is look at a YouTube video made by a fan saying that Lance is a bust, and take that for anything other than what it is. Those guys can cherry pick plays to “prove” whatever point they’re trying to make. They can pull out some plays showing the player is good… and then another person come along making a video showing the opposite by pulling out different plays.
It is all about verifying the video makers opinion, and that is what they do. Objectivity is absolutely not the video makers driving force, and they are alway pandering to their target audience. They also are human and have their own built in bias that can skew the content they put out.
I have seen a ton of real NFL people make mistakes on players. If Jimmy Johnson could let a Jimmy Smith leave because he can’t play and then Smith go on to huge success at another franchise… then I am 100% not taking a YouTube content creator as the final judge of Lance’s ability as an NFL QB.
Plenty of people who evaluate young players for a living for billion dollar franchises miss every season. That is why we have to wait to see how the next couple of seasons play out before we make any judgements on Trey Lance.
Here is another great video from the same “content creator”.
I hear your point… But this guy actually does a pretty decent job breaking down film and play design concepts. He also comes back and admits when he sees something comes to pass that he didn’t think would. There’s a similar video out there regarding Hurts… he had significant doubts in the beginning… And then there are a couple more to show where he was surprised at the degree of his development
So he was wrong about Justin Herbert coming out of college… He developed. He was also wrong about Jalen Hurts… He also developed. Even in this video, he doesn’t say all hope is lost for Trey Lance. His point of this video is that he has not developed at all in three years in the NFL. The others did. He is three years in and he is still making elementary read mistakes.
Pretty big difference
