Dez did not need to be a "Good Route" Runner . . . even when he was covered He was open (Tony Room Quote)

Dez's downfall in Dallas was a weak QB that can not throw the back shoulder fade . . .
Dez's downfall was his post injury lack of ability to be enough of an athletic freak to cover up his poor route running.

As much as I agree, I feel like Jerry will open up the bank if Dak can get us to a SB. Who knows, maybe Jerry is feeling like you do and is planning to cut and run if Dak asks for the big bucks, regardless of the outcome this year. Maybe he's sensing that's what is coming. Would explain the trade even more.
I agree with this. 100%

I think the next franchise QB is in College or High School for Dallas. It would be great for Lance to be that guys since he's in house, but I'm skeptical. I just believe Dallas needs a Top Guy from HS thru College to the Pros like Aikman. For example: Arch Manning type of prospect.

No . . . that was the narrative that Dak Cult members all agreed on

It was the inability of the QB to throw a Back Shoulder Fade which was Dez's Cheat Code . . . Once that was eliminated from the Defensive Back's concerns guarding Dez become a lot easier

For the team's welfare, I hope it's not because of Dak. All the cameras are on Dak this season. It will be very telling to see if he performs better.
It could get ugly but no one can worry about Dak's feelings any more

I hope he steps up . . nut chances are that he will not

Lance being a threat in a year or possibly a year and a half is a major threat to Dak's future in Dallas

If He falters this year (not saying he will) but if he does . . . He is out the door
That's contingent on Lance being who they hope he can be.

That back shoulder fade was almost exclusively used for TD throws. His drop off went beyond TD catches. I admit, Romo definitely had a better rapport with him, especially in the end zone, but that wasn't his only problem. That's why, as you said, guarding Dez became a lot easier.

And Dak couldn't hit him in stride or a back shoulder. Then Dez complained about being open and wanting the ball and dak cried to Jerry. then he was gone...

his route running sucked too, but shakey couldn't find him

Lance had to go because of the Cult Following He has in San Fran was threatening to tear the fan base in half exactly like it has done here

I give the 49ers credit for biting the bullet and moving on

Lance is gone and Purdy and Donald are in

49ers are in win now mode. Of the 3 QB's Lance has the least amount of experience which is a major factor for a team that has Super Bowl Aspirations

The Civil War between the 49ers Fan that want to Win and the Trey Cult Members who want Trey. . . . and the Win Now Mode that they are in

Trey had to go. Not because He is a Bust, On the contrary. He is still on the Come Up and based on His work ethic He may achieve His potential . . . We lucked into a Lottery Ticket
Oh good Lord… The stuff some people come up with in order to make them feel good about something. I’ve heard it all now… Trey Lance had to go because of the fan divide. Yeah… I’m sure that’s it.

Lol

For anyone interested in what frustrated Shanahan…

I don’t know if Lance will be any good or not. There is a chance he just has something missing and he won’t ever make it. There is also a chance that he does make it because he definitely has good physical traits.

However, one thing that I won’t do is look at a YouTube video made by a fan saying that Lance is a bust, and take that for anything other than what it is. Those guys can cherry pick plays to “prove” whatever point they’re trying to make. They can pull out some plays showing the player is good… and then another person come along making a video showing the opposite by pulling out different plays.

It is all about verifying the video makers opinion, and that is what they do. Objectivity is absolutely not the video makers driving force, and they are alway pandering to their target audience. They also are human and have their own built in bias that can skew the content they put out.

I have seen a ton of real NFL people make mistakes on players. If Jimmy Johnson could let a Jimmy Smith leave because he can’t play and then Smith go on to huge success at another franchise… then I am 100% not taking a YouTube content creator as the final judge of Lance’s ability as an NFL QB.

Plenty of people who evaluate young players for a living for billion dollar franchises miss every season. That is why we have to wait to see how the next couple of seasons play out before we make any judgements on Trey Lance.

Here is another great video from the same “content creator”.

What evidence do you have that he was terrible. His statistics in the 4 real games he started were solid. The one bad game he played was in a monsoon. I guess you were at 49ers practices and OTAS in May and went to the Summer camp practices. Purdy won the job because he was 7-0 and led the 49ers to the NFC championship game. You know that Lance was out with injury all last season but two games right?
Happen to catch any action of him playing?

Took Dez awhile to get signed after leaving here. Crazy how the league watches film and sees declining players and fans just think it’s some conspiracy lol.

Dude had no career after Dallas and kept up his lack of health with another major lower body injury in NO. These athletic deteriorations coupled with his lack of route running development were the end of Dez.

There are plenty of highlights with Dak throwing back shoulder passes lol. A) If you rely on one or two ways to be effective good luck lasting past your physical prime. B) Why didn’t all the back shoulder specialists pick him up?

2016 was Dez’s last effective year (guess who was the QB!). After that, his body let him down. No need for weird fan conspiracies.
