Marinelli does keep his scheme rather simplistic & sometimes it would be nice to blitz more, etc. That said, the defense allowed a whopping 10 points...and actually had a couple of turnovers (Marinelli's 2 prior defenses had 75 takeaways combined). In a couple of previous games, they allowed what, 13 or so points?

Also, some of these players ought to 'grumble' about their effort...especially in the 4th quarter and when the game is on the line.

One of the hosts asked the other one if there are any issues in the locker room...

He stated that a few of the players are grumbling about the lack of adjustments that Marinelli makes. His philosophy is old school in that he says he will stick with the original gameplan and refuses to adjust as it is up to players to execute...

Marinelli has plenty of company.

But as Lynch said, defenses show their worth when the pressure is the highest and in a few games this year, the defense has collapsed late giving up long and important scoring drives. So while holding Tampa to 10 is nice, a long drive late to lose the game is still very much their fault.

Just great. No wonder we can't keep a lead. Who ever heard of such a ridiculous approach.....if it is true.

13, 13, 20 and 10 points allowed last 4 weeks. The defense isn't the issue.

True. But is it possible those point totals are due to opponent offenses knowing they don't have to score many points to beat us so they don't take chances?

I mean, we saw what happened last week when the offense did score points.

co-sign

The Defense is clearly less to blame but there is some there as regards to the inability to protect a 4th quarter lead.

One thing Holly said is that the opposing offense is running a number of different looks to set up drives late in the game knowing there will be no adjustment...

They'll see something then put a scheme in their hip pocket and wait until late in the game to use it...

Jesse Holly also said their are players in the locker room who don't care for Garrett's coaching and philosophy....he clarified thy may like Jason the person, but they may not agree with his game philosophy.

I'm not sure Garrett has a coaching philosophy. He's a cheerleader and a promoter of platitudes. I also don't think there has ever been a coaching philosophy of just beating your man straight up and out executing them. Sometimes it's true that the blame falls onto the players. But at the rate it's been happening under Garrett? Please. That's just a sleight of hand way of deflecting the responsibility of the coaching onto the players. If coaching was just this, then I could coach. I'd just tell the player to run to the first down marker, beat your opponent, and make the play.

Scapegoat.
There's something different every week.
Every aspect of this team sucks at one point at any given time.
It's a bizar nightmare:(

Please refer to the part of my post where I said some of these players ought to grumble about their effort...especially in the 4th quarter and when the game is on the line.

That said, the offense should be able to muster more than the 10 or 13 points the defense has allowed 3 or 4 times over the last 4 or 5 games. In the NFL, 6 offensive points won't win many (if any), games. But holding opposing teams to 10 or 13 points, should be good enough to win most often.

It's the entire staff's philosophy. When's the last time this team went no huddle when they didn't need to but as a change of pace? Or used Escobar who was reasonably effective in the red zone a year ago?

Good points. I'm waiting judgment until after the year but I'm concerned by some things I've seen over time.

4 st8 games we have blown leads in the 4th even if OT. Not all on the defense as the offense should protect the lead as well.

Right now most would agree we suck.
At least we'll get to see Tony work on scoring some points next week.

This defense is hopeless. They can't apply pressure on a grape. If Winston wasn't green we would not have had those chances.

3 turnovers in 7 weeks.

It's not the issue though. Haha
