Something isn't right

I have been a fan for a really really REALLY long time. I have seen some of the best and worse come and go.

I have also been on many forums going as far back as the old ESPN forums of the late 90's early 2000's.

I have never, and I mean never witnessed the trashing of any terrible players I can remember years back the way Dak has received as of late.

And we are talking about not only a guy who had a great 1st season but a guy that TECHNICALLY still had a second winning season(9 wins) despite zekes suspension, bad coaching and getting killed because of oline injuries.

I believe most made Romo the exception and fans turned the other cheek on romos flaws for so many years, and the man is damn near a home town hero without having contributed to a single piece of hardware.

We now dak can throw the ball, we seen amazing accuracy and down field passing in 16. We know he can win without a star wideout, he did it without an injured Dez. And we know he can hold his own without an oline and decent RB, he scrapped together 9 wins last year, cassell and weeden would have never even made it close to 9 in the same situation.

The guy took an *** whipping last year and the coaches refused to help him or make adjustments and a lot of you leaned on the "exposed" instead of seeing the real problem or the WHOLE picture.

This fan base is turning weird. It seems more like a lot of fans are looking forward to failure just to have an I told you moment then actually being excited about football.

I believe Dak will have his fair share of 3-4 td passing with a couple rushing td games, and will still have those fans waiting up till the 2min warning of the 4th QTR, for dak to throw that INT just to get their fix.

So I want to know right now. What makes Dak(who has 2 winning seasons under his belt, no matter how you want to spin that 2nd season) any different from the other slew of crappy *** players who have received nothing but slaps in the wrist from fans over the years?

I can go back to the end of the aikman era for a proper begining and don't remember one player that got this kind of treatment.

I for one won't accept the Dak got exposed excuse any longer. And the he isn't Romo excuse is damn near laughable because we all know how that goes.
Dak is the QB. No other reason he recieves more bashing than the other crappy players.

We bashed Merideth, Morton, Danny and Romo who were all good QB’s .

It’s always about winning when your the QB. And for the Cowboys it’s about winning championships.

If anyone who professes to be a true Cowboys fan is openly or privately hoping that Dak fails than they are not a Dallas Cowboys fan..period. How could you not hope that a guy taken at the end of the 4th round, a guy who only got a chance because the backup who most did not want, including myself, in K. Moore got hurt. How many times does a late round pick turn into a true franchise QB? Once a decade usually. I was giddy at just the thought of a little luck finally coming this franchises way after 25 years of wandering in the wilderness.

The QB is going to get scrutinized at a more intense level than any position on the field as it should be. Early in the season it looked like we had really hit the lottery as the losses to the Rams and Packers were not on Dak. I think we all figured he had to come back down to earth a little, I mean how could he not? The lack of picks he threw as a rookie was just incredible. And your right, he went into GB and Pittsburgh, places where this team would seem to always find a way to lose, and showed the poise of a 10 year vet and lead this team to big wins. I heard some people try to downplay those two games because Zeke was the difference. Of course having Zeke was a huge factor but Dak made big time throws at crucial moments in both games, especially the Pittsburgh game. My only concern with Dak is after the Atlanta game he just looked like a completely different player. His accuracy was not just off it was downright terrible. I am one of the ones that think that he was shellshocked after the Atlanta game and that he will bounce back. Everything for me this year is about Dak. Of course I'll be worried about our WR's, DT's, Safeties, etc., but if Dak is truly a franchise QB than everything else can be upgraded at some point. We spent the post Aikman years in a fog as the Carters, Hutches, Leafs, etc., took turns under center. Look around the NFL, how many teams have spent decades trying to find a franchise QB. Brady has spent his entire career in the AFC East not having to battle against a franchise QB twice a year.

Apparently some fans aren’t able to separate criticism from support.

Who doesn’t think Jerry or Garrett aren’t what we need as GM or HC but we’re still rooting for them to succeed.

This notion because we’re critical of Dak we aren’t cheering him on is childish.

There is an eternal hierarchy of blame with fans.

If it isn’t a Super Bowl win...
Head Coach sucks...or he “can’t win the big one”
Quarterback sucks...or he chokes

And with fans...90% of the time a play fails it’s because the play call was STOOOPID

Go anywhere NFL fans exist...you’ll hear the same.

Great read. I have to agree with you. I think it's that the ones that complain are because they want to be right or I told you so about Wentz compared to Dak. Lately doesn't matter what the Cowboys do you will have the same ones complaining or talking trash

Where is the love button? Please post more.

It's social media....people are frustrated and try to find an outlet....its either dak or Garrett bashing....thats typically the way of it...

I think both dak and Garrett are going to have the last laugh
I'm still waiting on Garrett 8 years later. As for Dak it's stupid to hate on him like that because he's a young QB in his second year. And I was very impressed with him in year one. But he has to show improvement this year. I think some are just bitter because of the way Dak took Romo's place.

I remember the brutal abuse Phil pozderak took years ago. Social media isn't a requisite for hate.

Who doesn’t think Jerry or Garrett aren’t what we need as GM or HC but we’re still rooting for them to succeed.

I'm not rooting for either, but one is in a position where we have no choice but to accept (tolerate) him. The other one - I hope that Jerry will some day open his eyes and see (and admit) that the Garrett project has been a total failure and finally put an end to it.

The bashing needs to be directed at the coaching. Better coaching should, at the very least, put the players in a better position to succeed. Garrett and his staff fail at this at every turn.

Bellycheat hasn't always had the best roster or talent, but he knows how get the most out of what he is given. Thats the biggest difference between him and Garrett. One is a coach while the other is a cheerleader.
Bellycheat was a sub .450 head coach before Brady fell in his lap.

I completely agree.

There are a couple problems though.

Problem 1. He’s following Romo and people thought Romo wasn’t good so they sure as heck aren’t all going to think Dak is good.

Problem 2. Dak is limited as a passer. He’s never going to be an elite artist with the football so he will always catch a lot of criticism. He’s going to be a lot like Alex Smith.

Lost me as a fan right here...This play tells me everything I need to know. We still need a QB. Might be one of the dumbest plays I've seen a QB make. This is a mistake a Jr high QB makes....not some seasoned pro.
