Sounds like Romo is pretty serious about trying to suit up this Sunday

I've said this all week but I would play Romo in this game because of the importance of it and then let Weedon play against Jacksonville giving Romo 3 weeks of rest. But I guess since Romo plays this week he's probably going to want to play against Jacksonville as well and then rest for 2 weeks. I just feel like we can get by with no Romo against Jacksonville and use him in emergency only.

I agree.............if we cant beat Jacksonville without Romo, then the season is pretty much done.

I think Romo himself is pushing it. That's been his MO. He's proven throughout his career to play through pain and conditions some players would not. I believe the team officials, medical staff and others need to step in and deactivate him. I'm sure Romo can play and be effective to some extent but sometimes it's wise to give an injury or bruised body part more time to heal up for future games.

The medical staff has to clear Romo to play, no matter what Romo says.......................they could lose their medical license if they let an injured player back on the field if he didn't pass the tests.

You know the funny thing about that is I actually started thinking about that before Romo was injured. I think after we beat Seattle I started looked at the schedule and said that would be a good time to give Romo a break and maybe cut murray's carries down for that game. The one thing I fear is Jacksonville feeling slighted that we would do something like that and play with a certain edge. If the Cowboys did do something like that they have to be prepared for J'ville being pissed off.

Yea, good point.

I remember back in the day Switzer said playing the Bengals was like playing some scrub college team and the coach of the Bengals back then took exception to it and got into it with Switzer after the game...................too funny

The fact is Tony is always gonna be dealing with this back thing no matter how much rest he gets. If he didn't have back issues, he likely wouldn't have gotten hurt last week. The key is not being gunshy and his movement. Won't really know about the first one but if he can move, then he'll play.

It would be ballsy to pull him if he's not moving well, but I'd do it.

So who cares if Jacksonville is pissed off the Cowboys certainly won't but they have the Cards on Sunday and then worry about a "pissed off" Jaguars team who they might slight because they're resting Tony, and DeMarco.

My question would be can a very limited Romo help us more than a perfectly healthy backup that has been running with the 1st team a ton dating way back to Training Camp?

I'm not sure Romo's field awareness is as acute when he drugged up on meds.
The Detroit game 2 years ago and the San Francisco game this year are just two that come to mind.

Are we that desperate?
Is Weeden that bad that we risk our starting QB for one game?

I hope all this is mind games with AZ…..

Romo! just sit down man and rest .. we are 6-2

I would definitely go with Weeden this week, and injured or not keep Romo out of this game since he has not practiced. And then use Romo against Jax only if you need him, but try to win without. That would then give him another week with the bye coming up. The Cards are going to be coming to kill Romo----who cares if its a late hit, and that would likely put him out for the season.

Double flack-jacket?

Why not just suit up in a set of medieval armor.

Weeden obviously see's things on the field Romo does not. Like the witten TD, we haven't seen a play like that in a while. Sure Romo makes wayyyyyyyyy more amazing plays. It just seems weeden might see the field better/not scared to let it go.

Weedens arm strength and zip on the ball stands out like a sore thumb, imo

I really think as the weekend looms the doctors & coaches will go the right thing for the team regarding Tony playing. If he can do so safely & can tolerate all this pain they keep talking about play him.

If not well hello Brandon.

Losing to Jacksonville with our backup is unfathomable. Kinda like losing to the eventual 2 and 14 Rams in 2008, with Brad Johnson.

The Cowboys would miss the post season by one win, after starting 5-3 in their first eight games. I think it's a mistake to count the Jags as a win.

The similarities are unnerving, except that Weeden is much better than that version of Brad Johnson.

playing romo this week, then rest him against jacksonville.

it'd be so dallas to lose both those games. how do you think the jags will take us resting our QB because its them? id be pissed and come out and wanna smack them in the face. hell, the Commanders just did it to us.

I care. Now deal with that or don't.

If he is healthy enough to play arz why would he not be healthy enough to play the jags? His playing status really depends on his ability to move around and throw. If he can do that he will play if not he will sit and look to the following week to get back out there.
