i hate it when players do this. (yes, inhated when emmitt held out, too.) you can request a trade, but you're part of the team until you're no longer a part if the team. pouting at home sends a terrible message -- to owners, to coaches, to fellow players, and to everyone at whatever team that might eventually trade for you.

It's in Leary's best interest to try his best to get on a team where he will be an immediate starter and earn a big paycheck. He'll most likely only get one more big contract in his career. Good for him with doing this and I don't blame him.

You're looking at this through a fan's lens. Try not to.

I want to win the Powerball, but I have no control over that either. If I'm Dallas I'm not trading him unless I get a ridiculous offer. He is a valuable backup.

Too bad.....he is getting 2.5m this year to be a top backup and then can sign his own Parnell deal next year and we get a a chance at a comp pick along with Carr, Free, RMcClain, Church, TWill

Fine. Tell him the phone isn't ringing off the hook with acceptable offers so he and his agent can go out and shop him around and look for an acceptable deal. Give them the parameters of what you will accept and tell them to go find it or shut up and get to work.

Man, we have an embarrassment of riches on our OLine if a quality G like Leary wants out...

I generally don't care for players who request or demand trades. In Leary's case however, I can't be mad. His knee condition puts him in a position to need a longterm deal as soon as possible and he likely won't get great offers if he rides the bench all year.

Comparing the average job to the NFL is flawed.

to the extent that nothing equals anything else, sure.

comparing the nfl to combat is flawed.

comparing the nfl to family is flawed.

but they do it all the time.

in fact, tom brady's lawyers and the nflpa are arguing in court that the nfl is EXACTLY like any other job.

Well you wouldn't get the pick until 2 years. And if no one was willing to pay him more than the $2.53M he got this offseason what makes you think next summer after another year not starting he'd get over 2x that? On a long term deal?

Pipe dream.

If you could get a 4th you take it. If you could get a conditional 5th you take it.

Leary is a great backup. He's also an expensive one who won't be here in a year. Take what you can get and move on. If we couldn't withstand an injury to a guard...with all the other talent we have on the line...then this line isn't as good as we brag about.

The problem (I think) wasn't paying more than the $2.53 million... it was the second round tender. Teams didn't want to give up their second round pick in this year's draft to sign him.

I don't think anyone would have a problem paying more than 2.53M for him if they needed an OG.

he signed to get traded.
but we need value.
if he does not like it, he can sit out and lose money.
we get a starting calibre G as a backup in 2016.
and a comp pick afterwards.

Not terribly surprised. Given his circumstance I probably would have done the same thinig. Now the question is do we grant his request and what could we get?

I would ride it out b/c of possible injury and get a comp pick next year.

Yeah, well he'd undoubtedly make more than that with a new deal from another team. Like I said, I normally have little compassion for a player who requests or demands a trade. Leary's knee has already cost him a lot of money and it will continue to do so for the rest of his career. He can play right now but unlike his peers he doesn't need a catastrophic injury to see his earning potential bottom out.

It's a shame because he's worth more as a backup than a 6th round pick well get.

He needs to play out this year and then go.

We should not have to take a dive on his deal right .now.

Take the money..stay healthy and see ya somewhere else next January.
