You know I think I've heard BP say that Gurode is very smart. His mental breakdowns have been related to his need to be a perfectionist. So basically, he's been thinking too much and been less instinctive.

At least that's what I got out of it.
I'm listening to the quick on-target responses, the sense of humour, the syntax, vocabulary, and....I'm stunned. The kid's about the best interview on the entire team..a minimum of platitudes, instant come back. And sincere.

After months of Nors' "mental capacity" posts, I was expecting to hear Billy Bob Thornton in Sling Blade.

LOL

I'll also contradict the notion that Spears was the key to our draft, or anyone's....there's a reason we took Ware first...we could afford for someone else to draft Spears, but we knew few were interested because he's not a pass rusher...we couldn't afford to have someone scoop up Ware....you can't play the 3-4 without a great OLB who can get to the QB...you can find big DL who play DE in the 3-4, and we have pretty good depth there this year.

Gee, I'm usually the guy seeing the weaknesses on this team...I can't believe I'm the positive one here...it's a loss, but Spears is NOT and was NOT the key to our season....last reports were that he might not get on the field as soon as at first expected due to Coleman's play.

Let's not over-react to an injury to a DE who was not expected to be a great pass rusher.

:hammer:

It wasn't internet tough guy bravado, I was being sincere. With things like Paypal internet betting and the like is at an all time high. I tried to find the good (money for me) in a bad situation, and look out for my interests at the same time. ;)

Truly, all the position swapping rumors are tired. Allen isn't playing RT and Glover isn't gonna play DE. He will have his plate full playing NT. Tackle is his natural position... and he's good at it. He's also the only depth we have at it besides Ferguson and a mediocre Carson.

If I'm wrong, I'd be wrong, and I would pay up.

have you torn your ACL? different degrees of tearing you know......for me I couldn't stand because the pain was very intense....

Exactly. I dunno if the various DR's we've all had are giving us different info, but when my wife tore (completely- ripped in half) her ACL, the Dr in no uncertain terms said that you cannot extent your knee on your own power with a complete tear. That was one of the test that was given to her before the mri, the Dr asked her to extend her leg and she could not.

Kilyin, did you ever post on a "Madden" board?

It's the last place anyone'd find me, but I wandered into one one time on a Google search and saw a poster with your unusual screen name.

Fair enough.

And I agree on the position switching rumors, but in some cases, they aren't that far off. Switching OL around is not a big deal in most cases. Many DTs and DEs are interchangeable (Kevin Williams, Seymour and maybe someday Spears). Switching LB spots isn't a big deal in many cases either. Now a DE going to TE, that is a bit extreme.

One of my beefs of the offseason was moving Glover out of his DT position. The thing, however, is that the NT position he will play in the 3-4 isn't much like the DT position he plays in a 4-3. I wouldn't consider it a stretch to see him playing DE in a 3-4. A 3-4 DE is quite a bit different than a 4-3 DE. Same position name, but different responsibilities.

Don't want to rain on your parade, key, but here are some quotes from Jerry Jones:

--
"It doesn't look good," said Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.

"I'm very disappointed. Very disappointed," he said. "But it's one of the elements of having practice. We have concern about all three of the areas, we'll just have to see what the doctors say. It's just a shame."

I'm hoping for the best too, but Jerry is clearly pessimistic and that's not a good sign.

damn, I really want to know what fat lard rolled over the knee. Gurode's already in my dog house, if it was him I'm gonna hate the guy for life.

Yeah, I've posted on a few. Then I get tired of the game and stop. I'm looking forward to 2006 though. As far as unusual screen names, I've seen much worse than mine!

After the quote marks I'm feeling flubbered. I can only think the worst thoughts in my head.

It looks like he won't be back this year and even worse he may never be the player we hoped for when we got him.

Maybe we can get some of our money back and trade him to Snyder who is a sucker anyway for Arrington who they stole money from and he doesn't want to be there no more? Would they give us a first round or second round pick too then I'd do the trade and hope for the best.

LTN, you're a tad bit giddy about this for my taste ... this actually isn't something that's good for the team ...

I'd say (IF Spears is finished for the year) that we scrap the 3-4, put Ware at DE and have Burnett, Dat and Singleton (or Brady) at LB.

Probably even be a better defense actually.

Parcells did say after the draft that getting Spears at #20 was key to converting to the 3-4.

I agree, if he's gone we should see alot more 4-3

Shhh! If Nors hears any of this it's gonna be over :)

From what I can see on the video, I think he knee might be ok. If you completely tear your ACl, then you can't extend your leg on your own power. He clearly does so as you watch him walk off. So at worst I think it's a partial tear or sprain, or perhaps MCL damage. I'm no doctor, I just play one on the internet.

I stayed at a Holliday Inn last night ...:

He may have thought at the time that that was the key, but he has gotten more than expected from Canty and Coleman, so at this point in time the 3/4 stays in the plans IMO

Too Bad, Ben.

I feel for the team, and in particular, the kid , but no way did I see the season, the D, or even the 3-4 hinging on Marcus Spears.

If my levity offends you, put me on ignore,

But I should also point out I am deliberately trying to calm the storms, in particular, Nors' stress.

As anyone with half a brain can easily see.

Having him out for the year puts a damper on all our plans.

I was looking happy for the 3-4 defense to fool em up and create alot of terrify for offenses not used to it. But it looks like the 4-3 is where we're stuck now.

Man this sucks.

I was right there next to him as he got carted off. Some of the people around suspected it is torn due to the way to knee "jiggled." You hate to speculate, but just passing on what some others (photogs, reporters) were saying.

Nick and Mickey should get a report shortly. Stay tuned on DallasCowboys.com....

WHY? Does this have to happen to us? Damn!

Thanks for the update Dale......I am praying for the best!

There's nothing 'worse' about it, it's just rather memorable.

Or perhaps your posts were. ;)

Good luck in 06.
