Spears Injured

Haha. Football forums are so predictable.

There's always going to be people who overreact. And then there's always people who overreact to people who aren't overreacting.

Example: One person may say, "Spears is hurt--this is dissapointing"
Then the person who actually is overreacting thinking that the other guy is overreacting (but isn't) does the typical-'sky is falling' sarcasm-'0-16-1st pick in the draft' thingy.

Tired. Spears was hurt. This is a setback for him personally and for the future of the defense. People have a right to be upset.

Stop acting as though people are wrong to be upset in this situation please. Many of us had high hopes for Spears and this is a tremendous blow.

That's hilarious because it's so true! :D

Just as there are chicken littles, there are always an equal amount of drama queens who overreact about people who are not overreacting. :laugh1:

That's it. The season's over. Forfeit all the games. The team is going 0-16 because a rookie went down. Parcells sucks. He can't draft. He should have known the kid would get hurt. He's lost control of the team. It's the end of the world as we know it. We're the only team who's had a player injured. Parcells is an idiot. He only brings in his old guys.

Thats awesome :laugh2:

If this was madden and spears got hurt all I would have to do his his the little reset button on the PS2, if only life was that easy :(

Spears' injury 'doesn't look good'

OXNARD, Calif. - Cowboys rookie defensive lineman Marcus Spears, one of the team's two first-round selections, injured his right leg during morning practice on Friday.

Spears was placed on a cart and taken from the field.

"It doesn't look good," said Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones.

Jones said Spears would have an MRI exam conducted on his ankle, knee and groin.

The incident occured during team drills. It appeared that a player rolled over Spears' right leg on play where running back Anthony Thomas took a handoff over the right side of the line.

"It's part of the game, unfortunately," said veteran defensive lineman La'Roi Glover. "It's very disappointing to see one of the guys you were going to lean on go down."

Spears, the 20th player taken in the draft, was competing with Kenyon Coleman for the starting job at left end in the Cowboys' 3-4 scheme. At 294 pounds, Spears has the bulk to play head up against tackles and hold his own, especially against the run.

Jones said he had no idea how long Spears would be out.

"I'm very disappointed. Very disappointed," he said. "But it's one of the elements of having practice. We have concern about all three of the areas, we'll just have to see what the doctors say. It's just a shame."

Sorry I didn't read thru the 10 pages.....but is there any official word....I feel like I got ounched in the stomach when I saw the title.... :(

Assuming the injury is a torn ligament, is football terms, is that worse than a torn acl?

That Chief is a sneaky bastid :laugh2:

ACL is a ligament, located in the center of the knee, that controls rotation and forward movement of the tibia (shin bone). It's one of the worst ligaments you can injure.

On a slightly brighter note, Parcells said on the radio ticker that Spears needed a lot of work. Maybe this meant that he was far from being a starter this year. So maybe we are not in as bad shape as we would have been in losing starter. But I still hate to lose the guy.

AMEN. I will guarantee you one thing: this news ruined Jerry Jones and Bill Parcell's day. It is a serious blow, but thankfully it is an area in which they have built some pretty good depth. Just think if it was our LT or Bledsoe or one of our starting receivers. Though none of those guys are "elite", there is nobody behind them that could even come close to their level of performance.

Based on Jerry's pessimism, he's gone for the year. Believe it.

well, after all... spears is a rookie. the day i hear parcells say a rookie doesn't "need a lot of work"... i'll know the aliens have replaced him with a clone.

Well....$h1+. Im sorry, but this just aint fair...

If you go to DC.com and watch the TC update it shows him with little help limping off the field. He did put weight on it, so maybe they are just being careful. :)

Everyone better put Nors on the 'I' list if that player was Gurode. :D

that is somewhat of some good news. Please let it only be a minor injury.
