Can we have a mod add to the title of this post:

COMPLETE BASELESS SPECULATION: Henson will....

Because when I read this on the front, I thought it was actual news from an actual source that isn't completely made up by a poster.

Whether it is nothing more than a made up story by this poster.

Whether it is a story he actually heard but will never come to pass or his source is full of bs.

No matter if he is telling the truth or flat out lying.

I would NOT be shocked at all if they indeed do intend to cut Henson.

I am not a Henson hater nor lover. I am not a Romo lover or hater.

I will just say that no matter how many on one side hate henson or the other loves him. No matter how many people cry bs or jump up celebrating.

I just would NOT be shocked if they indeed do intend to cut Henson.

I could see them wanting a vet to back up Bledsoe but to be honest I think if they cut him it would be for a cheaper 3rd string QB.

If you are paying a guy a decent wage hoping he will be a backup (2nd string QB) or eventual starter it is one thing. If the guy last year and from the start of things this year, seems to be nothing more than a 3rd stringer than I think teams would rather just get another prospect to develope but for much less.

So I am not saying it will happen or will not happen, but it would not shock me and in some ways I think I would half expect it to happen.

I think you're right, it's just a matter of time. If he can't beat out a guy like Romo, with zero NFL starts, what good is he. There has to be a timeline to cut bait. Another year and Romo will continue to put distance between himself and Henson as he's done in the past without even getting on the field. If Bledsoe getst hurt and Romo gets the nod, would you really want Henson backing him up?

Most of Henson’s base salary is guaranteed, so we would not save anything by cutting him.

We would save the time we would be wasting on developing a guy who just doesn't have it. Bledsoe can't play forever.

You beat me to it, BP. I have no clue if this guy really has an inside source or not, but if I read the headline "Henson Cut" tomorrow it wouldn't faze me at all.

I didn't get a good vibe from Henson's mini-camp reports, and it seemed like they were spending a lot of extra time with him. I'm wondering if they are thinking there should be more progress in his third season.

It looks like there is a lot of smoke that Romo is "The One." We still have to see some fire, so I'm not annointing anybody anything, but if they come to the conclusion that Romo is better now than they expect Henson to be this year then it makes sense to cut ties with Drew and get a new project started.

Enter Mroz, who has done a lot of work with new QB coach Palmer. Hmmm.

Again, like you said, I have no personal stake in this at all - I like Henson and have been rooting for him since he was a Yankee farmhand. Just seems like going into his third year they expected more out of him.

I still think he'll make it into camp though.

Mroz is probably just camp fodder.

IRVING - The Cowboys finish their on-field teaching activities Thursday and will not be together as a full team until they report to training camp in Oxnard, Calif., July 27.
Last week's minicamp offered a glimpse of what the players have been doing in the off-season, but that hardly means what was seen at Valley Ranch for five pad-less practices in June will translate into regular-season success for any player.
But there were several encouraging signs.
Here is 1:

Don't give up on Henson yet
Bill Parcells said he expected more from Henson in NFL Europe but could not describe what he was talking about. Since the 2004 Thanksgiving Day game, Parcells has been down on Henson. It makes you wonder whether Parcells wanted the guy in the first place.
When the Cowboys sent Chad Hutchinson to NFL Europe two years ago, he proved he could not play. He took sacks. He still fumbled. Henson made solid decisions and showed poise in the pocket under some pretty good pressure. He is looking forward to the break before training camp to rest up. He spent practices with his right shoulder wrapped in ice.

But wasn't he spending all of Mini Camp Complaining about his Knee?

I don't believe this report. At all. The only logical reason to bring in a vet would be as a backup. I can't see this for 2 reasons:
1) BP likes Romo 2) The list of vets out there is very short. JJ wouldn't spend an extra 750k a year to sign Adam Vinatieri but he's going to give Kerry Collins as much money as his starter to carry a clipboard? I don't think so. After Collins please give me the list of available vets out there likely better than Romo in BP's eyes? <crickets>

No way you bring in a vet to be 3rd string. Your third string guy needs to be a prospect. Mroz is a likely practice squad guy anyway. IMO even if Mroz lights it up in camp Henson will be given every chance to keep his spot and IMO Henson will get his chance to move up to #2. I do think, as I've said before, if Henson fails to move up this year this will likley be his last year in Dallas.

No, this report smells fishy. Ain't buying it. Now if we hear Henson is demanding his release, well that's a different story.

Here's your list of vets better than Romo:
1) Jeff Blake
2) Tony Banks
3) Kordell Stewart
4) Tim Couch
5) Jeff George
6)Ryan Leaf
7) Doug Flutie

I dunno, the Skins seem to HATE draft picks... :lmao:

Some people feel that the draft is a crap-shoot anyway, so why not go and get players who have a proven track record, it's better than getting 'project qb's and wasting time. You notice that Washington did use a high draft pick on a qb.

Now that finished throwing up again - in reality Vinny might not be too bad of a choice for a BACKUP insurance policy in case Bledsoe got hurt. If we're really gearing up for a run this season, you just can't feel comfortable with Romo (or Henson) to come off the bench for an extended period of time.

IMO - the millon dollar question is whether or not BP and JJ feel this is the season. If so, then you have to think they want some experience coming in for the #2 position.

If they feel we're still another year away, then they take the risk with the inexperience at the backup QB.

Very good points all.

Okay, anyone who thinks QC is a viable option needs to go home and take a couple unstupid pills. Will never, as no way - hell freezing over -- end of world, never happen.

From Jerry's point, it would be a public relations nightmare. From Parcells point, he would lose face in front of the whole team.

Cmon guys think about it. QC is history in NFL football.

It was a joke, but obviously you did not get it

This is what Im getting from my Guy who works with the Cowboys. Rumor has it Henson is going to be cut and a Vet backup brought in. He's telling me that Jerry Jones tried to shop henson in the draft with no buyers and now they will probably just cut there ties with him since hes got an easy contract to back out of.

Also he told me during the Mini Camp Henson was constantly complaining about his injury he suffered in europe, some think as an excuse for his poor showing at the camp.

In anycase He tells me within 2 weeks henson will be Cut and that the browns did show some interest in him during the draft.

Wasn't you the one that first predicted that the Cowboys was going to sign Vanderjaqt one day and the Cowboys didn't.

Wasn't you the same one who told us Cowboys suppose to be trading up draft day to the saint pick to get Vince Young.

and I have to say GREG ELLIS RUMORS NOW THIS... who told you the news this time... >>>>JERRY JONES...:lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao2: :lmao2: :lmao2:

Just not buying that we cut Henson, at least not in the next two weeks.

One, we lose the NFLE exemption which we won't do.

Two, of the vet QBs out there who would be better than Henson --- Collins, old, wants to start, throws a zillion INTs; Fielder - you have to be kidding; Maddox - Crayton would be a better option than him; Banks - been there done that; Blake - see Banks; Testaverde - forgive me as I get off the floor from laughing. Just no QBs out there.

Three, need four QBs in training camp for at least the first couple of weeks, then I could see Henson being cut if Mroz shows better.

Four, well Jerry hasn't given up on Henson yet so even if he is third string this year, I could see him staying.

Five, even if we find a vet QB, Romo will have far more experience in our offense and what vet worth his salt wants to be the third string guy.

Maybe it will happen but the observations are at least not until after a few weeks after training camp.

Banks and Blake don't have to be great, they just have to manage the game, both are 9 game winners and Romo is zero game winner. It's a no-brainer.

I can think of a possible replacement. QC.

Now that would be interesting.

And all this wasted draft pick talk about the Commanders. They didnt guive up a 3rd rounder for Henson.

They don't like QC on this board, so they don't want him, doesn't matter if he can play or not. Their worse fear is if QC comes back and Bledsoe gets hurt and QC takes us to the super bowl; that would be worse for them than the Skins or Eagles winning the super bowl.

Banks and Blake are unemployed and have been for months.

No-brainer.

How can something that is impossible be a fear?

That's like me being scared of shark attack if I will never step foot in the ocean.
