Speculation: Trade in the works?

I automatically am leery of any Dallas trade rumor that does not feature Dexter Coakley.

Although Greg Ellis is fast assuming the mantle.

Before we signed Ayodele, I was all for trying to get Ray Lewis to play MILB, but now that Ayodele is aboard and we have the possible addition of Wimbley/Carpenter/Lawson in the draft, it doesn't really make much sense to get him. I would love to get ED Reed. He is one of only a handful of FS that can completely take over a game, and he isn't a coverage Liabilty. However, Roy Williams is the heart and soal of our defense, and I would hate to see him go.

For the sake of this thread, let's assume the trade did go through.

We could move Keith Davis back to SS and let Beriault compete for the starting job, while Pile remains at FS as Ed Reeds backup. We could then slide Burnett back to the SOLB position and still have the posibilty of landing a SOLB in free agency.

Our 3-4 Defense would then look something like this:

D-line: Spears - Ferguson - Canty
LB: Ware - Ayodele - Lewis - (Burnett/Wimbley/Carpenter/Lawson)
DB: Henry - Ed Reed- Keith Davis - Newman

Why is this even being discussed, why would JJ even consider trading Roy, this is just a no brainer. if he trades Roy then i would go and hunt him down.

It's total junk that RR thinks you should pay them for and line their pockets while you're fed false rumors.

Just got home and a e-mail from the Ranch Report was there and it was about a possible Trade with the Ravens.

Id pull the trigger only for the reason that reed can play either free or strong. He defintely has the coverage skills along with the knack for big play and above average tackler. As much as I love Roy, Ed Reed would be an improvement. People knock Ed for declining last year but he had al types of nagging injuries throughout the year.

Greg for Ray is essentially a trade for two productive aging veterans. Ray doesnt play as good in 3-4 and recently said on ESPN he would like ideally to play "untouched". But he if did concede, you you can put Akin at SOLB with Ray in middle with Bradie.. That would be dangerous!!! I like Greg's veteran leadership but he just doesnt fit unless its in a nickel or passng situation.

Of course the big problem in all of this would be my Favortie player going to another team and getting to gangsters from "DA U"..

Additonally,they both I'm sure are represented by Rosenhaus and I KNOW they both want new deals. Ed Reed is a steal and what he gets paid right now but he wants to be paid for what he is and thats the BEST all around saftey in the league. Ray wants to get paid like what he WAS, and thats the best 4-3 middle linebacker in the league with Goose and Sam Adams in front of him..

AHHHHH! I would be soooo torn to do that. But ultimately that would be a decent trade as long as salaries were taken into account. The reason I say this is because it is just so much easier to find a SS than it is to find a ball hawking FS. I would also prefer they throw in a 4th round pick due to the injuries the players have had previously, then I'd break my heart and trade Roy. Oh yeah, and Greg.

and it would be a lousy trade for us anyway...Lewis is a pure thug and wants a ridiculous contract, despite being almost washed up...Reed is coming off a bad season as well

EDIT: But the gist of the article is that the talks are dead, but MAY get revived due to Lewis mouthing off recently.

there were never any "talks" about this...that I'd bet money on...I am quite sure nobody with ANY ounce of credibility will ever report on this
