One thing you guys aren't doing is looking at production. Ray had 46 total tackles in six games last year. That's a little less than half (by two or three) that Bradie James (93), our current ILB, had last year. Lewis has averaged 99 solo tackles a year during his 10 year career and 120 total tackles each year. He could also be a strong lockerroom leader, too. I would do it.

The question is how do we define credibility... Over the past few months, PFT has picked up quite a following by legit NFLers. So I imagine somebody will join in the speculation and toss more brown stuff against the wall.

Well, gosh, sounds like the Ravens are trying to dump some players for some good citizens. Out of that trade, I would give Ellis and a pick for either Ray or Ed. I would like to hold onto Roy of course, but would they give us either of them for Ellis and a pick is the question in my mind, cause that trade would help us alot more.

Course, I doubt the Ravens would do a trade without Roy being involved, but I would be willing to give up a pretty high pick plus Ellis to get one of them in here.

Ray Lewis/Ed Reed for Roy Williams? Anyone else know about this? I am not starting a rumor, just saw this thread on the Ranch. I am wondering if anyone knows if this has any merit to it though.

I love Roy Williams. He was by far my first choice when he was drafted.


But if the Ravens were dumb enough to trade Reed and Lewis for Roy, I think I'd have to be all over that. We have safeties that can be good in the box (not as good as Roy, but good enough). Reed is the ball hawk we've been lacking. Lewis would be icing on the cake.


That said...

1. I'm perfectly happy with Roy and want to see in a cowboy uniform for a long long time.

2. The Ravens aren't that stupid.

3. Roy Philpott is dumb enough to dream this story up, post it, and expect people to believe it.

Ellis is still a good player and RW is an all pro calibar player...

Yeah but you hit on the difference, although you probably don't know it. Lewis missed 10 games... James is still young, healthy, cheap and productive. Ray is injured, old, and expensive. No thanks

No, I saw that, too. When healthy, there's hardly anyone better than him. But, he has been injured two out of the last four seasons. Damnit! I hate it when my own argument works against me.

I agree for the most part. But the Ravens installed a new D last year (the 46) so that had an effect on all their defensive players' production (Lewis, Suggs, Reed, etc..)


That said, now that I think about it, I would love to have Reed AND Roy as our safeties. That would be awesome. But just Reed? Eh. Roy isn't NEARLY as bad in coverage as so many ignorant cowboys fans (or just fans in general) tend to believe, and he's the hardest hitting safety (by far) in the NFL.
