Mike Fisher reports they are working on long term deal.

Kiffin must like him.

If they sign him to a decent contract that lowers his cap hit I'm happy but if they keep it as is. I'm pissed

Highly, highly unlikely I'd say. Not the type of player a team is going to allocate the resources of both a high draft pick and a big salary.

I think with him franchising him I think we can safely say that DE is not going to be the first pick. I am mixed feelings on this to be honest. Spencer had a great year last year no doubt, but our DL is old now if you look at it. We need to get some youth there or they will wear down at the end of the season.

Would have liked to see what the Chefs would offer.

They don't need him.

I hope someone offers something.

I don't see the downside of franchising him at all. No way he wants to go into FA after he hits 30. Dallas has a lot of leverage with this and they can always cut bait if things don't work out the way they want it.
exactly. gives them real leverage in the contract negotiations and tells us something most already knew. he is a much better player than most fans think and we have no one to replace him

I doubt it. I'm pretty sure their gonna work on signing him to a long term deal.

We keep a hold of him, can continue to negotiate long term, and can rescind the tag at any time.

We get Romo under contract and we've got space for a few other signings.

What a dumb move! Guy doesn't fit a 4-3, IMO.

Kiffin disagrees.

He might have an edge in terms of talent evaluation.

I hope we did this to trade him only. He is not big enough to play LDE on an every down basis. I would take an early 3rd for him. Can we de-franchise him before 3/12 if we get no trade offers?

Jared Allen had just turned 26 when the Vikings traded for him and Peppers was an UFA.

Why not? He did it in college and was a stud.

As expected. Hope we don't sign him long term unless the total guaranteed is 20 million for the first 2 years.

guess this means we have more cuts coming before 4pm EST....wonder who's on the chopping block? Free next? Anyone know how much we're over the cap now with Spencer franchised?

We shall see, I guess. For as great as Kiffin is/was, he sure as hell sucked at USC.

I'm not going to blindly agree with everything they do because this or that guy has "been in the game" longer than I have.

Connor, vickers or maybe free if we designate him as a June 1 cut

He's bigger than Freeney, Abraham, Haley, and a lot of defensive ends.

Anthony Spencer wasn't in my top-10 of free agents. Why? Too old.

Carlos A. Mendez ‏@calexmendez
Obviously, Cowboys like spencer. What they really liked was his attitude last year. Garrett talked a lot about his positive body language.

Nick Eatman ‏@nickeatman
Probably hasn't officially happened yet because they have to get under the cap, expect more cuts to come before 3 p.m.

Cowboys have officially waived Gerald Sensabaugh, LB Brashton Satele and CB Vince Agnew.
