If he can be traded for a pick, they absolutely should tag him. If not, I think they should let him walk.

I think we've seen the best of Spencer already. Stop paying guys for the past.

In Spencer's case, the past was last season. Up until that time he was injured or played like a scrub.

They don't need him.

I hope someone offers something.

Oh, they need him. They know it deep in their souls. He is key to their success, and he can be had for just a few measly picks. Offers like this come once in every few decades. Chefs need success, and need it now. Their fans have been waiting so long. They(the fans) ain't gonna keep roasting ribs out there for long with this failure going on that is the Chefs. They just got to make their move. Make your offer Chefs.

We are setting ourselves up to be the same team as last year. Too bad.

What a dumb move! Guy doesn't fit a 4-3, IMO.

Bill Polian:

[Anthony Spencer] played OLB in Dallas' 3-4 scheme, but I think he's more of a 4-3 end. He is an outstanding pass-rusher. As I mentioned earlier, I'm normally wary of players having good seasons in contract years, but putting him at OLB doesn't allow him to do what he does best, which is rush upfield. And I see upside for him in a 4-3 scheme.

Kiffin disagrees.

He might have an edge in terms of talent evaluation.

Bill Callahan disagreed with me on the OL talent last year.

How'd that work out?

The dumbest argument going on around here. We should just close the boards because our coaches and GM know more than us.

I don't trust him, but Spencer was clearly the best player on the defense last year.

Mixed feelings.

Judging by your comments there are plenty more.

There is nothing bad about the franchise tag for Spencer unless you are Anthony Spencer.

It's a one year deal with no future cap implications. It doesn't matter how much he makes this year it's just a number.

Hopefully they are just using him for one year as they draft someone younger who can take over eventually.

With the franchise tag, the Cowboys still have a lot of scenerios still on the table with what they can do with Spencer for the long haul, but letting a double digit pass rusher in his prime just walk away with getting nothing in return is astoundingly and mind-numbingly illogical. You don't just let highly valuable assets walk away for nothing.

Agreed, I hear the same thing all the time and it is annoying. They have opinions just like we do. They "should" be way more educated but that not always the case.

What by keeping one of our only good players from last year?

Oh, I guess you've ran a team then, eh Dave?

That's what I thought. :)

Yeah, it is March. It's that time of year to start with this defense.

A lot better than forking over $30+ guaranteed to Carl Nicks went for the Bucs.
