Is this just typical hate every move Dallas makes?

Any other team that had Spencer would have franchised him too, based on how he played last year.

Bill Callahan disagreed with me on the OL talent last year.

How'd that work out?

inconclusive, due to injuries.

Why anyone wants to lose a pass rusher is beyond me.

oh wait. Yes, I do.

This is the same message board that wanted to get bigger, slower, fatter, and less athletic up front.

Makes sense. We need Fatty McDoublecheeseburger at DE.

I hope they trade him; but if we can get a halfway decent long term deal that is not too high then maybe it will not be so bad.

Sad they do not have the guts to take a chance with a DE when they were quite willing to use JAGs to protect their QB.
If they had a OL equivalent to Spencer they would pay them too.

Wonder if he'll fight the tag as a LB instead of DE. Loses some good money on that.
There is nothing to fight. It's based on snaps he played on last season and was agreed upon by the nflpa. The only DE snaps he's ever played as a pro are on the nickel.

Re-signing Doug Free was the right move. No one could've known his career would go downhill like it has. Its easy to say that in hindsight but a left tackle in his mid 20's who's playing at a high level? You can't let that walk.

In hindsight looking back at the 2010 season, I wonder if Doug Free looked decent because quite simply he was the best of a terrible bunch of guys.

He looked better in 2009 than he did in 2010 I thought

I particularly love the nobody could have known, hindsight defense.

I knew. If you didn't, that's your fault.

He showed really good athleticism, he'd often be 10-15 yards downfield, cracking on a DB after having taken his primary assignment out of a play

IT can't sit well with anyone that the Cowboys are about to lose potentially 3 1st rounders in the prime of their careers......

A teams drafts picks have by far there most value during their 1st contract. By their 2nd contract, they cost just as much as any Free Agent from another team.

Mike Jenkins will be gone; however, Brandon Carr replaces him. The Cowboys could have given the big contract to Jenkins but instead gave it to Carr.

Hey, I'm not going to pretend I didn't know Doug Free was vastly overrated just to appease the crowd that didn't know. I wouldn't have signed him for half the money. I wouldn't have even entertained his agent in a negotiation and I said as much months before he became a FA.

The bottom line is it's on our talent evaluators to know and they once again made the wrong decision.

Levitre is the only potential "really good" and for me a bird in the hand is better than a bird in the bush.

It's absolutely amazing with all these expert scouts that we have on these boards that some of them aren't employed with a team some where doing this talent evaluation job that they seem to think is so simple.

I seriously don't understand why some here aren't putting their resumes in with NFL teams and letting them know how they're always right in talent evaluations and never wrong. Just ask them. They've never missed on anyone, ever, to read some of the posting around here.

We're the only fans in the NFL who believes guards are a higher premium than pass rushers.

Great, now we can't get Andy Levitre and duplicate the phenomenal success the Bills have had. Thanks a lot, Jerrah!!!!

I suppose the good news is we'll have Spencer this year and see how he fits in with the new defense. Plus, we didn't sign him to a long-term deal after he had one real good year here, and that is good, too. So, it could have been worse. However, it is another reminder of the 2009 draft failure to get a replacement out of all of those picks.

They knew 100% if they made this move that Spencer would be back in a Dallas Cowboys uniform in 2013.. They couldn't afford to get into a bidding war with other teams for a really good guard in FA & miss out on them and then they'd be in the same boat with players like Bernadeau/Livings remaining. I suggest you hope for Cooper or Warmack to fall to 18 and then you'd be a happy man.

You really need to send your resume to Valley Ranch so the Cowboys can become good again...in your eyes.
