Hey, I give you big credit... you're the one Mavs fans who's stuck around with the roundball talk even after your team was eliminated... and you didn't do it just to pile on the national media hate-fest against the Spurs.

You're a good fan, and don't get down... your team will be right in the mix of things next year.

I can't help but watch. I'm in too deep now as a b-ball fan.

A close friend of mine (Knicks fan) told me the same thing after last year's disappointment. I told him you have to take advantage of winning a championship when you have the chance, because you're never guaranteed a second one. Just ask a fan of any of the other 15 or so NBA franchises who are waiting for their first championship.

Even as bad as how this year ended, I still say last year was worse - BUT, it was worth it. It was a blast. One of those moments when as a fan you taste steak and for the first time really KNOW what you've been missing. We were SOOO CLOSE last year and then just died. The first four games this year had me worried that there was something seriously wrong, something more to it then that, until they went on a 50-5 run, won 67 games, won their first Southwest title, etc.

The most disappointing thing of all is the realization that it is not talent that holds this team back. Only heart.

And a low post presence.

And a true, pass-first PG.

And someone who will take it to the basket.

The Spurs have all three, and Ginobili, Parker and Duncan can each drive and earn free throw trips. Who reliably does that for the Mavs when Dirk regresses and shoots only jumpers?

OK Spurs fans, who do you want?

A rematch with the Pistons or a chance to teach the "King" a thing or two?

Personally, I say the Cavs. I think LeBron gives the series more sex appeal (so to speak) and I think the horrible coaching of the Cavs makes it impossible that we lose this series. Although whoever we play from the East, there'll be a serious coaching mis-match.
Man, I really don't want to play the Pistons. I think that series goes 7. The Cavs don't scare me at all, though. We would pack the lane to limit LBJ's driving and force them to beat us from the outside (which they'd not be able to do). The only downer about that series is that we would put them away in Cleveland instead of on our court (stupid 2-3-2).

ps id rather play the cavs, just so the nba gets good ratings (although the finals with the pistons got better ratings the the mavs/heat finals, HAHA)

Either Detroit or Cleveland will pull out 2 wins at home in the finals. I say the finals go at least 6 games with SA managing to win it all. They are the favorite. They beat Detroit before and this Pistons team is not as good as the 2005 version while the Spurs may be slightly better than that 2005 squad. I think they will end up facing the Cavs. Look for Cleveland to pull off a victory at Detroit and then wrap it up at home in game 6.

Not soon enough for me. Football news has been too depressing:

-Marquise Hill's death
-PacMan Jones
-Michael Vick
-Brett Favre
-The Bengals
-Merriman - steroids
-Ricky Williams

Color me jealous!

I really wanted to fly down to SA for a playoffs game this year... but now I'm probably outta time. :(

I imagine finals tickets are hard to come by... especially since there are only going to be two games in San Antonio before the finals are over! :D
