The Cowboys know he can't stay on the field so I don't have a problem releasing him he's been a good warrior for us

Now if you wanted to give back a little bonus money that be great LOL

Hmmm I realise it seems already sorted.. but I can't be the only one nervous about releasing Romo? Dak has played 12 games.. only 10 of which he performed well in.. I'm not so sure we should be welding our future on him as QB until he puts together a full season and probably two.

Elite level QB's are hard to find.. we have one in Romo (albeit injury prone and old) and hopefully we have found one in Dak.. but I'd like to see him work through the current slump before we write the Romo exit in pen.

It's almost a certainty that Romo will be released. Clubs won't trade for him knowing he can not stay in Dallas under the present situation. If there is any real interest in him the club will simply wait it out.

We better get something for Romo, otherwise let him sit as back up QB. Although theres plenty of football to still play and anything can happen ask the Dolphins. But if Dak is our starter next year then I want some form of draft picks for Romo.

I will say this though, Montana had a severe back injury requiring spinal disc surgery (doctors thought he should retire at the time) in 1986, but returned to pilot 2 more Superbowl wins for the 49ers in the '88 and '89 seasons.

Doctors said they removed the extended part of the disk but did not have to fuse the disk, which would have been necessary for a more-serious injury.

Very lucky he didn't need the fusion, pedicle screws, and plates.

Ummm. I love Tony. I really do. But uh... he's an asset. And I'd prefer to get something back for him rather than lose him for nothing.

Unless a straight release helps give us better salary cap relief. I don't know about that part of it. If it helps in that area and it's good for both parties, then okay cool.

for me the real value of moving on from Romo is his cap space. Absolute best case trade scenario is conditional 4th rounder (meaning he starts certain amount of games next year for his new team) but more likely is 6th rounder if Romo misses games. If Dallas releases him they can spread it over 2 years and cap hit is remarkably acceptable.

This.
Teams aren't going to give up anything knowing an outright release is nearly inevitable. Why should they? They know Jerry isn't going to trade Tony to a lousy team against Tony's wishes.

Its all just talk, not like it was a direct quote from Tony or Jerry. We could lose this week, and Tony is our starter next week.
Exactly, I'm not buying any of that talk. I could actually see Tony in this bucs game if Dak struggles

Yep. Its an impossible situation for the FO. There is no solution short of a release and that would seem logical June 1st.

Yep. That makes the most sense.

Guy has got another year to play if he's lucky, two if someone up there is really looking out for him. No need to worry about your future team being gutted of resources you wont be around to realize.

I have a theory on where Tony may end up. I keep hearing Denver by so many but I'm not so sure Elway would want to do that having 2 young QBs.
Jacksonville is my dark horse contender. They've got to be tired of Bortles by now. He's never cracked 60% completion rate yet in his career and has more INT's for TD's than wins. Jacksonville is building a real good young defense and is in a very winnable division. I could see them offering Tony a 2-3 year deal while they search for a future long term guy.

Cowboys don't owe Romo a damn thing, especially with no title. Romo goes to the highest bidder. I don't care if it's Cleveland.

It's better for the team if Romo is no longer a Cowboy. Take that huge Salary off the books and use it to build up the defense. Thank you Romo for all the great moments, but.........Bye
