I just don't see it. Jerry is a business man, the Cowboys are a business and Tony is an asset. You do not give up assets for nothing.

This is a moot point at this point. If Dak can't play any better than he has the past two games, then Romo isn't going anywhere next year except under center for the Cowboys. Let's see how the rest of the season plays out. If Dak rebounds, then Romo will probably be gone. I just hope they maximize his departure for the Cowboys, not Romo. I love the guy but his measly two playoff wins do not afford him special treatment in my opinion. If the team can get something for him, that's what they have to do.

Romo is the better QB. Him sitting on the bench right now is a travesty. Especially the way this offense is playing.Romo's greatest value is on this team competing for the starting position next season.

Romo and his travesty ways can compete next year.

Doesn't matter how the Cowboys finish, Romo will NOT be here next season. His cap # is far too high and he can't stay healthy. Dak has already proven the ability to win games in the NFL, and is making about 19.5 million less than Tony. It makes no sense from a business stand point to retain Romo after this season, and that's just the cold hard truth no matter how many fans will be devastated upon his release......

I'm sure Romo would "prefer" that
I would prefer a Bentley to my current car also
That is a completely meaningless statement

If Jerry cuts Romo instead of holding on to him for next season or trading him to the highest bidder it will be the stupidest move he had ever made for the football aspect of this franchise (and yes, I'm painfully aware of ALL the stupid and moronic moves jerry had made over the years)

It's time to move on from Tony. The guy can't stay healthy. If he'd rather get released than I'm sure Jerry will do it.

I'm sorry but getting rid of an aging injury plagued QB wouldn't even make the top 20 of bad Jerry decisions. It isn't even a bad decision. Nobody's going to give us much for him anyway.

I think it could be a mistake to let tony go before we are sure about dak.
I would keep him 1 more year , unless dak wins the sb and looks good rest of the way.

Heck tell him job will be open to compete for if he takes less money. maybe even give him the job for 2017 see how he does.

He can "prefer" all he wants but if a team is willing to give us a pick or 2 for his services, sorry bud, it's a business.

I don't care if it were Cleveland. I'd ship him to the Browns in a heartbeat for a 1st round pick.
Except Tony will retire instead of going to Cleveland. With his health problems, Tony is going nowhere but to a contender.

I have long been a fan of Romo........however, he has little to no leverage or equity here. His regular season record is basically .500, his post-season record is not good, he has had some major injuries over the last few years, and he is old. He is one helluva QB, and a lot of this was not his fault, as far as team failures and injuries, but a lot of it was. He electrified for many years, gave us all some serious false hope. He has been great in the community. However, we have our young gun, and it is time to move on. It is the nature of the business, unfortunately. Had he gotten us to the SB, at least, I would say he could have some leverage to make demands. I say, we try and fleece whatever team we can, for whatever we can....say thank you and move on.

Ummm. I love Tony. I really do. But uh... he's an asset. And I'd prefer to get something back for him rather than lose him for nothing.

Unless a straight release helps give us better salary cap relief. I don't know about that part of it. If it helps in that area and it's good for both parties, then okay cool.

He's not an asset if you don't put him on the field n prove he can take a hit. If they were planning on playing Dak into the playoffs they should have tried to move him before the deadline. The rest of league knows he's toast if you chose to ride Dak into the playoffs. We will not get anything for him now. Tonys going to Denver n Denver knows it. Cowboys will end up releasing him because Denver knows they will not take the cap hit to use him as a backup. No Romo in the playoffs no trade value.

Interesting prospective.

Made me think of one thing, put Romo on the Chiefs this year. Yeah we would lose.

Been telling my friends the one team everyone overlooks is KC. Romo is an upgrade to Smith. It would just come at a price for KC.

I don't know how he'd be an upgrade. Smith doesn't have a history of injury and he isn't nearly as old as Tony. He just consistently wins.
