Joe needs to worry about his own team. I think Drew Brees just threw another touchdown pass.

as the placeholder he had a fluke play.

The qb led the offense right down the field on back to back drives in the 4th qtr on the road in a playoff game.

it happens. No one ever talks about witten fumbling at the 1. We would have had first and goal at the 1. We would have score a TD without question.

its funny seeing a giants fan not understand this, if he has always been a giants fan he should know crazy plays on special teams happen sometime. Like sean landetta whiffing on his punt in chicago in 85, trey darilek's horrible snap against the niners in 02 Etc...

Crazy plays happen.

My friend said it best.He said,"He is a good QB and athlete, but is soft mentally when the heat comes". Nobody can deny this. I am a Cowboy homer for 32 years and I can see this.

Yes you and your friend must be right.

Having a wet ball go through your hands while holding for a fg in slight rain is definitely a "mental mistake"

by the way do you have a source or a link to what your friend said, around here all opinions must have links and/or sources attached.

How many games has Romo actually lost in the closing seconds? If the O has the ball and has to score to win, Romo usually accomplishes that. I only recall the KC game where he did not come up big.

I may be misremembering, but the other games (Seattle Playoff, NY Playoff), it wasn't Romo who lost those games. The D or ST were just as much or more at fault. Are dropped passes blamed on Romo too?

Its only been 3 full seasons guys. Peyton Manning won nothing either in his first 3 years as a starter. Considered a choker too. A little patience. The alternative is much much worse.

He led two game winning drives up the field in the 4th qtr in front of one of the loudest stadiums in the league in that seattle game.

Witten fumbled at the 1. the defense got the ball back and we drove right back down inside the 5.

What part of coming up small is that from the qb?

Theebs it is a waste of time. Seattle game...no one mentions the fumble at the 1 (by Glenn BTW not Witten) which resulted in a safety and the ball.
Followed by our defense giving up a 37 yard TD to a JAG TE.

No one mentions that until last year the only reason Ben R had hardware was because his defense bailed him out. Put up one of the worst performances a QB has ever had in a Super Bowl.

Nevermind that Eli was the benefactor of a scramble for his life, throw the ball up for grabs into triple coverage that somehow miraculously got caught by Tyree and not intercepted play.

If Romo does that exact same play but instead of miracle of miracles, it gets intercepted like it should have the argument would be how much of a bone head Romo is and he will never win the big one and blah blah blah.

It just gets really old.

your confusing plays. Glenn fumbled at our 1. Witten fumbled at the seattle 1 on the drive before the botched field goal. We went right down the field twice and got zero points because of the two mistakes.

off the top of my head I think witten fumbled in the second quarter too.

Speaking of which, and believe me: I really admire the guy and I'm asking to prove a point, but if Drew Brees doesn't win the SB this year, uh....

why is he better than Tony Romo again ?

after all, if Romo's numbers don't mean anything, neither should Brees' as impressive as they are.

Or is a " playoff victory " good enough ?

Romo has played ok this year, but not at a pro bowl level, and he's had a couple of real dogs.

What's undeniable is that he's generally not played well at the end of each season, and played mediocre - at best - in his 2 playoffs games.

Until he turns that around, the statistics are nothing more than window dressing for unfulfilled potential.

But he's 0-2 in the playoffs and wears his hat backwards. Cut the bum. Pro Bowl QBs are easy to replace.

And those numbers were inflated by a first ballot HOF. The pro bowl is a popularity contest. Start Mcgee and he would get enough to be a replacement.

My bad...I was thinking of our own endzone.

You are correct. I re-watched that game a week ago.

I actually think Romo is much closer to "clutch" than a "choker". And in that Seattle game Romo did not look good at all for much of the game but got it going when it was crunch time.

TO isn't getting in the HOF on a first ballot, if he gets in at all.

The one set of numbers left out of this piece are the most important ones to offset this myth.

Tony has performed as well if not better than known QB in the fourth quarters of all games - big or small.

If its pressure he supposedly can't handle, how do you explain his excellent performance when it matters most in games?
